Chapter 14 - Why?

5:45 PM

Hede and Kira had arrived at Abbadons home. It was a modern mansion with 2 floors and a large forest surrounding it. The home had been passed down through the family, and recently came into Abbadon's hands.

Sebastian had opened the aircraft's side exit, and the 2 had stepped out.

On the steps into the house stood 15 or so servants with their hands behind their backs. In front of them was Abbadon with an arm around a pretty blonde lady. Beside them stood a man who looked a lot like Abbadon.

As Hede and Kira came closer, the servants bowed. "Welcome back, Miss Kira and Young Master Hede." They said. Abbadon raised his free hand and the servants returned to their previous position. He lowered his hand and walked forward with the blonde lady still in his arms, and the man following behind him.

He stood a foot in front of the two teens, his smile full of deceit. "Hello Kira. It's so nice of you to visit." Abbadon said, completely ignoring Hede.

"Father, its not like we had much of a choice." She replied dryly. Kira turned to the lady. "It is nice to see you again, Mrs. Rust."

Mrs. Rust smiled. "Please call me Charlotte, Kira. I've told you this before."

Charlotte was Hede's mom and Abbadon's new wife. She had sandy blonde hair and light blue eyes like Hede's. But unlike Hede, Charlotte was very tall. She was wearing a slim, light blue dress that matched well with Abbadon's baby blue dress shirt and black pants.

"Old habits die hard, Mrs. Rust."

Charlotte chuckled. "I suppose they do for you." She looked at Hede, and her smile got even wider. She got out of Abbadon's hold and gave Hede a hug. "How have you been Hede?"

Hede hugged her back. "I've been good, mom."

"Look at how big you've gotten. I feel like its been forever since I've last seen you." Charlotte said.

"It's only been a bit more than 2 weeks." Hede smiled. His mother was always worrying over him.

"Yes, I know, but, still. You're doing such dangerous things so of course I'll be worried."

"I'm fine mom, really."

"Alright, I'll let it go." She turned to Abbadon. "Shall we go inside, dear."

Abbadon grabbed her hand. "Alright." He looked at the man beside him. "Hurry and finish your greetings and meet us inside."

"OK." The man said.

"Sebastian, take their stuff to their rooms." Abbadon said and turned to leave.

"Yes, sir." Sebastian said. He grabbed Hede and Kira's bags and followed after him.

After Abbadon, Charlotte, Sebastian and the servants had went inside the man turned to the two and threw his hands in the air.

"Little sis, little bro!" He yelled.

"Ky!" They yelled and ran into a group hug.

Ky was Kira's older brother by 6 years, but they had always been close. So when Hede joined the family, they both welcomed him with open arms. He had the dark caramel skin that both Kira and her father had, the black hair, and gray eyes. He was a spitting image of Abbadon, just way kinder.

After a few second of hugging, they finally let go of each other.

"When did you arrive?" Kira asked.

"Yesterday, Abbadon told me to come visit." Ky said.

"A full day of Abbadon? You're insane." Hede said in mock-disbelief.

"It wasn't that bad," Ky laughed. "I only saw him at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I made sure to leave the house whenever I had the chance."

"Hopefully we can also do that while were here." Said Hede. Kira and Ky nodded.

"We should head inside before he sends Sebastian to come get us." Kira said. The guys agreed and they all walked up the steps and pushed the ajar door open.

The corridor was cold and foreboding with old gray carpets, scary stone statues and other old, creepy antiquities. There were 2 stairways that led to the second floor and two hallways-one either side of the entrance.

Since it had been awhile, Kira and Hede decided to go check out their rooms. They walked up the stairs and down the long hallway to find that their rooms right next to each other.

Inside both rooms was one king bed with velvet, gray covers, and to its left was a large dresser. On the back wall was a big window and a Holo-table beside it. On the right wall was a door which led to the bathroom. In the middle of the room was a grey carpet with a small couch and Holo-TV in front of it.

Kira closed the door behind her and sat down on the edge of her bed. It had been forever since she had last slept in this room. But she was always at her mom's house and there was never any reason to stay at Abbadon's mansion. Kira wouldn't say it without provocation, but she disliked Abbadon with a burning passion. She was pretty sure every one knew already, but she still kept quiet.

A knock on the door shook her from her thoughts and she mumbled a 'Come in'. Ky opened the door and stood there as he looked at Kira.

"You alright?" Ky asked.

Kira sat up and stared at Ky with a blank expression. "No."

Ky nodded in understanding.

"Why did he want us to come here?" Kira asked.

Ky shrugged. "To be with his family, maybe." At that, Kira smiled bitterly before going back to her blank expression.

"I'd like to believe that." She said, standing and walking out the room.

"Where are you going?" Ky yelled from behind. Hede came out of his room.

"What's going on?" Hede asked.

"I'm going for a walk, would you two like to join?" Kira said, not once stopping and waiting for them. The two boys nodded and quickly followed behind.

-----------6:00 PM---------------

The group had come back from their walk 10 minutes ago and spent the rest of the time roaming the castle until dinner came.

Everyone was at the dinner table. Abbadon at the head, Charlotte right beside him and next to her, Hede. Ky sat opposite of Charlotte and Kira was beside him.

On their plates sat Chicken roulade, stuffed with spinach and asparagus, topped with mushroom sauce. Their drinks were freshly squeezed cranberry juice.

The 'family' ate in silence, not even looking at each other.

After a few more minutes spent in silence, Abbadon cleared his throat. "Ky, Kira and..." He thought for a second. "Hede. Please come to my study once your finished eating." Abbadon dabbed the corners of his mouth with a napkin, before standing and leaving.

Charlotte stood as well. "I think I'll leave you kids to have dinner in peace." She said and left the dining room.

Hede sighed. "He actually forgot my name."

"Correction-almost forgot your name." Ky said.
