Chapter 909 - Brambleghast & Ceruledge

Axel knew about Aegislash. He may not have seen it in real life, but he knew about it, and these two ghost-type Pokemon were very different.

Axel knew about Aegislash. He may not have seen it in real life, but he knew about it, and these two ghost-type Pokemon were very different. He had never seen a creature like this before.

One was a tumbleweed-like Pokemon with thorns. Most of the branches that composed its loose, spherical body were brownish yellow with light purple tips on top, while the base of its body and its center front branch were entirely dark brown. It looked like small branches and sticks gathered together. Yet, he could see its smile and lips.

Another one was a humanoid Pokemon. Its body was primarily black, though some regions on its head, arms, and legs were dark blue. From each side of its head, a sharp, pale blue protrusion extends outward, giving the impression of ears. From the back of its head, a blue and purple fire burns upward, resembling the plume on a knight's helmet. Its eyes have pink irises and wisps emanating from its white pupils. A plate with three pink indentations on its center covered its face. Instead of hands, it wielded purple-cyan blades created from both fire and ghost energy.

"Alon, do you know anything about these Pokemon?" asked Axel. Since Alon is the ghost-type specialist, he figured that Alon would have detailed knowledge about these two unknown ghost-type Pokemon.

"Sir, one of them is called Brambleghast. It is that tumbleweed-type Pokemon. It is mostly found in the Paldea region."

"The region that is trying to become the major region?", asked Axel.

"Yes, sir. I don't know much about it, but I do know that it is a grass/ghost-type Pokemon. It has the ability to extend those weeds and branches that cover it. Once it does it and covers the whole body, it can suck the life force of the target till they die. It is an extremely dangerous ghost-type Pokemon."

"Ok, what about the other one? That blade-type Pokemon."

"Sir, I do not know this Pokemon. This is the first time I am seeing it.", said Alon with a guilty face. He was the ghost-type specialist, and now he could not even recognize a ghost-type Pokemon. That was very shameful.

"It's okay. We cannot fight all three of them at the same time. We will have to divide and conquer. Alon, you and Krishna take on that Brambleghast. I will take on Ceruledge and Aegislash. Yes, that is the name of that unknown Pokemon, and I hope that you will try to know more about them in the future."

Of course, Axel didn't know about Ceruledge. He could only tell that from looking at the system.

These were the stats of Ceruledge. This Pokemon looked extremely strong. Axel didn't know why it was following Aegislash. Axel could tell that it was a physical attacker, which was rare for a ghost-type Pokemon, but since it had swords instead of hands, Axel thought that it was reasonable.

He was surprised to discover that it had developed its hidden ability. This was the first time it had seen such a thing from a wild Pokemon.

One of the new changes in the system after the increase in difficulty was that Axel could not see the moves and move descriptions of wild Pokemon and other trainers' Pokemon. But there was a catch. This requirement only applied to those Pokemon that are not two sub-ranks lower than his most powerful Pokemon. For instance, the most powerful Pokemon in Axel's arsenal was a pseudo-champion tier 1 Pokemon. So, Axel could only see the stats of the Pokemon that are tier 2 king-rank or lower.

This was a massive disadvantage for Axel. He never appreciated the power of the system when he looked at the types of moves that others knew and guided his Pokemon based on them.

Now, he was facing a Pokemon that he knew nothing about except for the name.

"It has 'Flash fire' and it is a fire/ghost type Pokemon. So, it is immune to fire, normal, and fighting-type Pokemon. I cannot use Charizard on it. It must be weak to ground, rock, ghost, dark, and water-type Pokemon.

Hmmm…."

Axel thought about it and figured out that Nidoking and Steelix were perfect to deal with this Pokemon. Even though Steelix was weak to fire type, it has exceptional physical defense, and Ceruledge seems to be a physical attacker.

Nidoking was even more perfect to deal with this Pokemon, because it had a powerful special attack. Axel believed that it had weak special defense, and Nidoking had good physical defense as well.

Axel's Alakazam came and teleported Brambleghast to another location where Alon and Krishna could fight it out.

It appeared yet again to do the same for Ceruledge, but it failed. Well, it did succeed in teleporting Ceruledge, but Aegislash was teleported too. Ceruledge was very fast. Even though it got teleported to a new location, it raised its sword hands and slashed towards Alakazam.

The sword slash flew towards Alakazam, but it was quick to teleport again to save itself.

Now, Nidoking and Steelix were going to face Aegislash too in this battle.

"What happened?", asked Axel to Alakazam as it teleported near it.

"I don't know. For some reason, they are connected somehow and cannot be separated. We will have to fight both of them at the same time.", said Alakazam.

That was going to be a problem. Axel was very nervous in dealing with Aegislash. It had a defense form with 'King Shield' and an offense form as well, allowing it to deal some damage. It was a Steel-type Pokemon, too, so it was tough to kill.

For days, he had been racking his brain on how to deal with this Pokemon and he had come up with an answer. It was to let Shedinja and Charizard fight against it. It was weak to fire and ghost-type moves, and since both of them could fly, they were perfect to deal with Aegislash, but now, since Aegislash and Ceruledge were fighting at the same time, this was going to be a brutal battle.

"Marcus, you and Charles will deal with Aegislash while Meg and Steelix will deal with Ceruledge. Try to separate them as much as possible.", said Axel.

Axel was also going to give them active instructions. This was the final battle, and he needed to win it.

###

Three pseudo-champion rank Pokemon and one tier 2 king rank Pokemon. Anyone would feel that it was overkill, but Axel didn't think so. Ghost-type Pokemon were mysterious and challenging to deal with. If they missed in some way, they would have to pay the price.

Axel was even more sure of his decision when he saw how calm those two Pokemon were when they were facing pseudo-champion rank Pokemon.

Immediately, Aegislash used 'Iron Defense' to improve its physical defense, but it also used the move on Ceruledge. Axel could tell that it had modified the move. After using the move, everyone began to use their status moves to prepare.

Axel's Pokemon were also not sitting quietly. Charizard used 'Sunny Day' and 'Dragon Dance' with 'Dragon Scales'. Shedinja used 'Agility', and others also used their status moves to get ready.

Ceruledge also used 'Swords Dance' to increase its attack stats and 'Agility' to improve its speed. It rushed towards Nidoking and Steelix to face them. It knew who it was facing, and it had no problem dealing with them.

Steelix had used the move 'Stealth Rock' to attack Ceruledge in secret, but for some reason, the Pokemon could tell where those pointy rocks were and avoided them with ease.

Steelix had already used moves like 'Sand Armor' to improve its defense. It also used the move 'Swamp'. This was the move that created a swamp near it. The move had been trained meticulously, and it was not visible to the naked eye.

Ceruledge could not have known about the swamp, and as it entered the place, it became stuck. The swap slowly started to sallow it, and to make matters worse, Nidoking used the move 'Mud bomb' on it.

The move would stick to the target, making the target heavier, and it would blast after a set amount of time. Ceruledge didn't know about it, but it did understand that these muds were a problem.

It looked at Nidoking and Steelix and gave a roar.

ROOOARR

Suddenly, a second Ceruledge came out of thin air. The second Ceruledge was hovering in the sky, unlike the original one. The second Ceruledge pulled out the original one from the swamp and headed out to fight against Steelix. There was a stark difference between the original and the second Ceruledge. The second Ceruledge was covered in a red fire aura.

It sent out a powerful 'Heat wave' that covered a large area. Massive slashes of fire, sand, and heat emerged from its body. The speed of the second Ceruledge seemed to have increased a lot. It dodged Steelix's 'Iron Tail' and slashed its swords towards it. A red slash made of fire rushed towards Steelix and hit it.

ROOAAR

Steelix let out a painful roar, as if a powerful attack had struck it. The second Ceruledge also used the move 'Will-O-Wisp', and now Steelix was severely burned.

Steelix was extremely angry, and it directly used the move 'Sand Domain' to create a sandstorm. The power of the move covered a vast area, and the second Ceruledge was trapped inside it.

Then it used the move 'Dig' to go inside and came out behind Ceruledge to use 'Head Smash'.

BANG

The move was as the second Ceruledge flew and crashed to the ground. It took some time to get back up.

Axel could now tell that this second Ceruledge was not a substitute in any way. It must be some self-created move of Ceruledge because if a substitute were hit by that powerful 'Head smash', then it would have already disappeared, or it would have at least started to phase out.

Axel could also tell that the original Ceruledge that was fighting against Nidoking was not weak in any way. Nidoking was not having such a bad day as Steelix, but fighting against a pseudo-champion rank Pokemon toe to toe was not a joke.

Axel could tell that Ceruledge was very close to reaching pseudo-champion rank, but the fact remained that it was not one. Axel was surprised by how well it handled two Pokemons. One of which was a pseudo-champion one.

"Meg, protect Steelix. Try to remain close to it. Use 'Sludge wave' and try to poison it.", shouted Axel.

Nidoking used the move 'Poison Ball' as six balls made of purple color poison came out of its mouth as it hurled towards the second Ceruledge while it used the move 'Sludge Wave' towards the original one.

Meanwhile, it ran towards Steelix, trying to protect it. Steelix was not even a tier 3 king rank Pokemon. The only reason Axel wanted it to participate in this battle was due to its extremely high defense. But both Nidoking and Steelix had foiled Axel's plans.

"This is going to be a long battle.", sighed Axel.
