As Argon stood halfway up the staircase, he watched Ezekiel disappear down the corridor. The heavy silence that followed made his chest ache. He let out a slow sigh, dragging a hand down his face.
Their Alpha King looked like a ghost.
He had seen Ezekiel bleed before; he had seen him fight armies, command storms, and face death itself without flinching. But this was different. The wounds inside him were far worse than anything visible. Argon could feel it in the air, the way the energy in the mansion seemed to dim around their king.
