Flashback: The Night of Roses
I'm trying to control my breathing and leaned against my car and pressed my head against the fold glass of the window. Inside the car driver seat head a bouquet of roses meant for trixy.
I had pictured it a hundred times. Approaching her, handing the flowers, seeing her grin. She might not immediately agree, but shed get it. At last Shed realized I was someone who had loved her for years rather than only her best friend.
But not any of that occurred.
Her dismissal kept replaying in my thoughts like a terrible recording instead. Good pals. Thats all there well ever be.
Every word hurt my chest.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. Xaviers Callings.
Naturally. He most likely wished to know if his sister had agreed. If she had at last replied yes.
I stayed silent. I was unable. I turned the phone off and crammed it back into my pocket rather than using it.
