Zyron's Pov
The low murmur of the air conditioner, like a faint warning message, was the only sound in the private office. I leaned back in my black swivel chair, with one arm running along the armrest and the other holding my phone to my ear. My eyes scanned the vastness of the headquarters - our family, the empire of steel and glass - but my mind was a tempest that no barrier could hold.
"Zyron, it's around a week to wait before a DNA test result is available," Uncle Benj's voice, very composed, came over the line. He was one of Dad's oldest friends and a doctor I trusted without question. "Why do you want to know? Is something the matter?"
I was unsure at first and then, sensing that the question weighed like a shroud over me, I said, "I'm just… curious, Uncle. I appreciate your informing me."
"If this is really about your personal matters," he said softly, "remember that a test is not the only way to get answers. Once you witness the truth, you will not be able to forget it."
