In the hospital room, the air-conditioning made a soft hiss that was the loudest noise. At that time, the corridor with its sleepily amber lights was quiet except for the rare noise of the nurse´s shoes squeaking.
Phoebe was sitting cross-legged on the window sofa. Her earbuds were in, and she was gently nodding her head to the music. In the intervals she would have just two quick strokes on the coffee table edge with her drumsticks as if she was a shy little heartbeat that doesn't want to wake the floor.
If Erlyn was on the sofa's arm, Luna on the floor next to her with a tiny portable keyboard on her knees and Sydnee at the foot of my bed with her arms crossed, then only one thing would have been missing: the noise. Erlyn in a few words was outlining an idea she had, Luna was ready to play with the volume turned down, and Sydnee, as usual, was up to something with a big smile on her face.
