Zyron's pov
Kaidence moved her chair back with a loud scrape that could cut through the low murmur of conversation. "I've lost my appetite," she said with a sharp tone. She seemed to be extremely annoyed as she proceeded to unroll the napkin from beside her plate as if it was burning her fingers and then stood up.
"Kaidence--" Mom exclaimed, rushing to her feet.
Dad gently held up his hand to stop her. "Let her be," was his unspoken message.
Kaidence's reaction was to tense up her arms. She hurried out of the room without looking back and the quick clacking of her heels on the floor was the only sound that could be heard apart from the silence until a moment later the closing of her bedroom door.
The silence that was left was even more profound than the noise caused by her leaving. Even the chandelier's slight movement seemed to stop.
