Chapter 19 - District of Gershire

"So what were you doing out here in the woods?" Frisk asked.

"Well... My brother sent me on a trip to deliver a letter to one of the nobles in Gershire" Khila explained.

"Where's Gershire from here?" Jason asked. Frisk in a pointed direction that signified south-east from their location.

"It's about a 45-minute walk that way" Khila mentioned.

"That's not that far... we could stop there and get some breakfast," Frisk said, rubbing her stomach

"Right" he replied. Jason began to walk in the direction in which Frisk pointed, Khila following directly behind him.

"So Khila, what district are you from?" Jason asked.

"I-it's kind of weird..." She replied, holding her hands behind her back. He had seen the worried look on her face and decided to discontinue the conversation to make her feel more comfortable. "But... I'll tell you anyway" she continued. "Me and my brother are from the Brunton District..." she said.

"Brunton? Isn't that where S.O.U.L's Military resides?" He asked.

"Yeah... The whole district is meant for soldiers, but there are a few abandoned houses in which no one goes... He and I live there" she explained.

"You and your brother...? What about your parents?" Jason wondered.

"Parents... we ran away from them and now we live on our own..." she said.

"oh... well... I grew up in an orphanage in the Shadyhearth District" he said. Frisk walked behind them paying attention to the surroundings, and checking for nearby monsters or animals.

"So... What're you two out here for? is she like your big sister?" Khila asked.

"Nahhh, she's actually my teacher... we embarked on a journey to find out how I can control my Soul and use it" Jason explained.

"Soul...? you mean, you have one too?" She asked curiously.

"Yeah, wait you have a soul?" Jason replied. She held out her hand, and an ocean blue heart manifested out of thin air.

"This is my soul, but I don't know what it's used for..." she said. Jason stared at her soul, amazed at the capability of Khila even summoning it.

"Any wild guesses?" he asked.

"No no no, I know what kind of soul it is just not how to use it" she rephrased. Khila then put her soul away and kept her hands behind her back. "I-it's the soul of Passion" she stuttered

"Well, I have the soul of Creation!" Jason said, grinning.

"Hey look Gershire's up ahead" Khila yelled pointing at the District-City.

"Jason," Frisk yelled.

"Yeah??" he replied. Jason stepped back from Khila to hear was Frisk was gonna say.

"There are a lot of S.O.U.L, B-ranked nobles here... We shouldn't spend a lot of time here, I know a lot of them" she explained in his ear. He nodded and proceeded to catch up with Khila again.

"We can't stay for long is what Frisk told me" Jason explained.

"Oh... I see...." she said, disappointed. They entered the District filled with lots of people, more than Shadyhearth. There were 3-story houses and large buildings everywhere. Even the restaurants looked deluxe.

"Woahhhh, is this like a wealthy city?" Jason asked, amazed.

"The city has a lot of wealth because the Noble post here taxes the people and splits the earnings with the Military" Khila explained. They walked, passing huge crowds of schools, restaurants, buildings, and homes until they all could see one giant building in the middle of the District-City.

"Alright Khila, this is where we part ways," Frisk said.

"But Fr-"

"If she needs us we'll be at that restaurant over there" she interrupted, pointing and a small restaurant on the side called 'Gershire Diner: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner'

"oh... okay..." Khila said. She turned around and walked in the direction of the large building.

"Bye Khila! See 'ya later!" Jason shouted as they waved goodbye to each other.

"Now... Let's get something to eat and get out of here" Frisk said as they both walked towards the diner.

"I hope the food's good" Jason mentioned holding his hands behind his head.

"We'll see" She replied.
