Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Shaw barely touched the floor before both feet went their separate ways. He and his beautiful mate tumbled to the floor in a tangle of arms and casted legs.

"You bloody fool Shaw," Bran snarled. "You can't stand on a cast and definitely not two, Cole untangle the two of them would you, make sure he hasn't broken the wee lass. I'm going to call Barnabas for some clean up."

Shaw groaned and tried to move, but his limbs just wouldn't cooperate. Encased in solid bandage, the likes of which he had never seen before.

"Shaw stay still before you crush the lass more." Cole scolded, reaching over, and shoving him off his limp mate.

"Have I killed her then?" he asked panicked.

"No just knocked her out cold," Cole explained. Gently lifting her and placing her on the bed that Shaw had once occupied.

Shaw sighed his relief. Managing to sit up on the floor he stared at his legs, knocking on the bandages that surrounded them.

"What villainy is this?" He asked looking at Bran.

"It's not villainy, it's medicine, which you wouldn't have needed if you hadn't gone off on your own instead of waiting for me on the cliffs as was planned!"

Shaw didn't get a chance to answer before Barnabas popped into the room. He snarled at the Viscount vampire; it didn't seem as though his magic was suffering any.

"Oh, this I like, the all-powerful Earl of Mac, on the floor at my feet where he belongs."

Shaw growled, a rumble low in his belly. He felt the power of his beast come forward, felt his fangs drop down, and his claws drop down. Using this to his advantage he sliced through the traps on his legs, tearing them off, and bounced to a crouch. Ready to take out this worthless sassenach where he stood.

The Viscount was ready. The unmemorable man that once stood before Shaw was gone. In his place stood a hairless demon, with grey skin, glowing red eyes and sharp fangs that dripped with deadly venom.

"Stop!" Bran jumped between the two, putting his back to the vampire. "Shaw you can't kill him, we need him, it's the only way to wipe you from the docs memories."

"As if he could kill me." The viscount said with disdain. "He's weak yet, even I can smell it on him."

Shaw scowled at Barnabas but nodded at his brother.

"Another time then."

He stood slowly wincing at the lingering stiffness in his body. He moved to the bed and gently caressed his mates face. Leaning down to her ear he whispered. "We will meet again, anamchara."

Shaw placed a chaste kiss on her still lips and stepped away.

"Come, Shaw she will be fine we need to get you out of here." Bran took his brother by the arm and began leading him to the door.

He just needed one last look before he left her. Turning towards the bed he let out a roar. That filthy vampire had his mouth on his mate's neck. Shaw launched himself at Barnabas. Tearing him free of Maggie and throwing him to the floor.

"You die now!"

Shaw fell upon the vampire and tore into his shoulder. Ripping away flesh and sinew. He could feel hands upon him trying to pull him away. He was focused though. His vision a tunnel to which the lowly vampire demon was at the end of. He'd never liked the vampires and the feeling was mutual, how they had ever managed a peace treaty he had no idea. He still remembered that night, as though he were right there still.

The Magics of the witches had swallowed them in a soupy whiteness when they had arrived. Caressing their skin like a lover. It would be the last love either him or his brother would see for the duration of the meeting.

Lord Barnabas immediately hostile, calling them animals. Lying beasts that should be burned. Bran had launched himself across the table and buried his claws in the vampire's throat, removing his head. He would have succeeded to if it weren't for Angus MacNary, Laird to the highland witch clan. The witch had wrapped his magic around his brother like a steel rope and pulled him off. Bran was slammed in a chair and no matter how he struggled was not able to leave it.

"Well, I can see we are all off to a great start." Angus sat his heavy frame at the head of the table and glared at all of them. "You will conduct yourselves as upstanding adults and not a bunch of unruly young!"

"You allowed these animals here, these beasts that hail from gods, and expect us to not protect ourselves?"

"Aye, Barnabas I do."

"What is this he speaks of? Gods? He's gone daft, we hail from the longboats, just like every other werewolf clan." Shaw asked with confusion.

"Nay, Shaw…"

"Shaw! Dammit, wake up!" He heard his brother shout.

"Has he gone back into the coma?" That was Cole. What was wrong with him, he couldn't seem to open his eyes. Everything was white, a curtain drawn on the world.

"Good riddance." Barnabas's voice was the cure, the fog swirled and parted. Revealing a bleeding Barnabas, and a concerned Bran and Cole.

"What happened Shaw?" His brother asked. "One minute we were trying to keep you from ripping Barnabas's head off and the next you went limp, and your eyes went white?"

"I was in the past, the day we discovered where we really came from."

"Enough with this reminiscing," I wasn't able to fully meld with the good Dr. O'Neil, before this brute attacked me."

Shaw growled again.

"Shaw, it's the only way he can erase her memories while she's unconscious he needs to connect with her, and as disgusting as it is that is how a vampire connects, with blood."

"Mayhap I should leave before he does starts this again or I am liable to kill him where he stands."

"Good plan," Bran turned to Cole. "Have all the medical records been taken care of?"

"Yes, once the viscount and his minions finish their mind wipe on the others, we are good to go."

"Let's go Shaw, we have a lot to fill you in on."

"Fine, get me back to the keep." Shaw proceeded out the door, in no hurry to see that bloodsucker near his mate again.

"This way brother mine." Shaw followed Bran through the hospital and out the doors. Into a large area made of rock and full of those great metal beasts. His brother continued towards one of them and stopped, opening the contraption, and gesturing inside.

"Oh, hell no!" He said backing away. "I'll not get inside that thing." His brother sighed and looked at him with exasperation.

"I was afraid of this."

The fist came out of no where. Shaw was sure he saw stars explode behind his eyes before the world went dark.
