Bonbi scooped the water into a hollowed piece of wood, drinking it by the handful as if he had been starved of a single drop for days, and returned to the young girl's side. Acting even more gently than when he had laid her upon the earth, he rested her head on his knee, parted her pale pink lips, and attempted to trickle the water into her mouth little by little.
"What are you doing?"
The young man didn't answer until the water began to spill from the girl's mouth, but once he deemed she could swallow no more, he turned to Mel.
"I have no idea why, but the water within this cave possesses restorative properties. When we suffer minor injuries or are dead on our feet from exhaustion while fleeing wild beasts, we can recover our strength by drinking from it."
