David Locke looked at Mary Scott, full of confusion.
Mary Scott, feeling guilty under David's gaze, hesitated for a while before muttering that she had promised Mrs. Twain they'd have a grandchild soon.
"You just listen to whatever Mrs. Twain says, but when do I see you listening to me like that?" David asked, half amused, half annoyed.
"It's different," Mary mumbled softly.
"How is it different? Bullying me because I'm easygoing, huh?" David glanced at Mary with a cool look.
Mary grinned foolishly to cover it up; how could she tell the man she was afraid of being disliked by Mrs. Locke?
"This isn't the way home," Mary noticed something was off soon after they left the parking lot.
"We're going to the hospital. Aren't you worried? We'll get a blood test to put your mind at ease," David, having come in a hurry without his driver, drove smoothly towards the international hospital with his familiarity with Swallow City.
Mary quietly agreed, staying obedient.
