On the third day after getting the marriage certificate, Bertha Swift finally came around a bit, feeling her sore waist as she climbed out of bed. On the dining table was the breakfast Adam Piers prepared for her before going to work.
Bertha Swift had been physically exhausted over the past few days, and after gulping a few bites, she felt a little better and received a call from Kelly Brown.
"Bertha Swift!" As soon as the call connected, Kelly's voice came through with a low growl.
Bertha Swift held the phone slightly away from her ear, waiting for Kelly to calm down a bit before asking, "I haven't had any upcoming events these days, right?"
"No upcoming events mean you can ignore calls and not reply to messages?" Kelly scolded, disappointed.
Bertha felt guilty. After a drunken night at Moon Lake Manor, she stayed home with Adam Piers for three days, hardly sober enough to keep her eyes open during meals, let alone check her phone messages.
