Bertha Swift was genuinely curious; they'd only gotten their marriage certificate a little over an hour ago, yet everyone seemed to know about it already.
She looked at Adam Piers, somewhat embarrassed.
Adam seemed to inadvertently dodge Bertha Swift's question. He was the one who spread the news, but to maintain his image in front of Bertha, how could he possibly admit that?
"Don't worry." Adam Piers, seeing Bertha Swift standing there motionless, clasped her palm with his large hand.
Though Bertha Swift found it peculiar, it wasn't the time to dwell on such issues. She squeezed Adam's hand back, trying to act as natural as possible.
"Why are you two just standing there? Come in quickly." Old Mr. Smith, seeing the pair stop, called them over with a big grin.
Adam Piers looked at Bertha Swift, "Let's go. Grandpa has taken a liking to you."
