Down the long hall past the broken walls, Jannai was looking around hoping he would be able to find any trace of a human coming this way.
The mocking from Khalil and Rayyan had started relentlessly when they had moved away from the elder's son and he was already sick of hearing it, he did not believe a Druin would do this to an elder and he would not let a human get away because the idiots behind him did not want to do anything incase they get reprimanded.
Jannai had not walked far from the Druin held down on the ground when a thought struck him, 'how would he prove it was a human who had walked through here and not another Druin?'
He walked over to the Druin being held down on the floor. Looking over his clothes he searched for a marking or something that had not been destroyed in the he struggle earlier, that could be seen and would identify the attack was human.
After an extensive search he found nothing that said absolutely it was humans who attacked the man.
Without thinking further and wanting to get away from the constant droning of the two Druin behind him, Jannai walked to the end of the hall.
The hall sharply turned, leading down another the maze like corridors of the ships, always annoyed him but he knew it had a purpose as he was reminded almost daily when he complained about it.
On the other end of the hall, Jannai saw something which drew his attention. It was a blackened piece of floor, he could see a piece of what he assumed to be melted metal on the ground.
When he drew closer to the scorched floor he saw where it had come from. The side of the wall a bolt or two had hit this spot, liquifying the metal.
As he turned the corner to see were the bolt had come from he was struck, his body stiffened and he saw headless corpses of his fellow Druin.
The halls past the bodies were no better, littered with corpses the blood coagulating in the halls.
Jannai began to run back down the halls the way he had come. Rounding the corner he flew past Khalil and Rayyan who he stumbled past, knocking into.
"What the hell was that for" yelled Khalil as he steadied himself while glaring at the still running Jannai.
"Humans. They killed so many!" he yelled as he ran down the halls at and even faster pace.
Khalil and Rayyan exchanged glances at one another wondering what could have changed his behavior, why he was scared to such a degree. Huddling close to the corner they could hear only their own breathing, ragged and hard.
As they peered around the corner expecting a human charging at them, they saw blood, an unimaginable amount of blood soaking into the floors as Druin were strewn about dead.
Khalil and Rayyan, upon seeing such a sight stumbled backward, landing on their asses as they hurried to follow Jannai releasing warnings as they went for their spears.
Jannai rounded the corner into the room through the destroyed wall.
"Humans! There was a human. He has killed more" strained Jannai to say between massive breaths.
"We need to go, now and get him" he finally managed to say as he held himself up on the rubble.
The crippled man known through the ship as the son of the elder was drawn away from his father at the statement of Humans.
"They killed him. I thought you captured them!" he yelled at no one in particular but instead to all the Druin in the room.
"sir we captured the man you said too" said the Druin commander as he pointed towards the currently unconscious Razaloth.
"Not him, there was a human. He killed my father, you stupid idiot!" yelled the son lost to his grief and anger he lashed out at anyone present.
"Yes sir" the commander said before looking at Jannai.
"Did you alert others that a human was on board, did you see him" the commander yelled after the chastising he had gotten from his superior he was going to place the blame on someone else and alleviate his anger.
Jannai just happened to be the one who had drawn his attention.
Jannai still not realizing what was happening began to explain when Khalil and Rayyan rounded the corner, tripping over rubble as they went.
"Sir we have alerted all Druin on the eastern side of the ship where the human is headed. Shall we alert the rest?" said Khalil as he wheezed from all his running.
The timing of Khalil and Rayyan was impeccable to alleviate Jannai's trouble.
The two looked at the commander in anticipation of what to do next.
"Be on the look out for humans. I repeat, look out for humans onboard" The commander said into his trident which broadcast the sound around the ship.
Silence lingered after the announcement was made, no other Druin reached out to the commander to ask what had occurred or inquired where the silence was loud in the room as all the Druin waited for the chaos, that such news would bring, and yet their was nothing, no one calling them, no one panicking, nothing.
"Try to send a signal to my trident" barked the commander at Jannai.
"Yes sir" he replied through his spear.
The sound went into his spear but nothing returned from the commander's trident.
You! He pointed to another, then another and another. No sound was returned from his trident.
"The communications are down, take the Elder's son and hide in the panic room. Let no one in. The rest of you with me, hurry" The commander said as he began running down the halls after the human, the grief from the Elder had made him lose his mind, he was not himself and if he let a human escape he would never forgive himself.
