~~~ [Emotions out of equilibrium, initialising emotional dampener]
Li Yang immediately became as calm as a river, the battle against his mind was over and he had won. Wait, had he? The last thing that he clearly remembered happening was him trying to swipe away the banner. Everything after that was a confusing mess of thoughts and actions. He felt like he was losing his mind; as if he should be feeling… something? He couldn't tell, just that something was missing.
Li Yang once again saw the banner in front of his eyes, but this time, he had no feelings of fear or surprise that would have been expected of him. In fact, he remained calm and was finally able to take note of this weird banner.
Before he could attempt to touch the banner, it disappeared. Fortunately, he clearly remembered how it looked. It was a massive banner, in a robotic font that seemed to convey a bland tone when read. He would probably fall asleep if forced to read even a paragraph of that text. The other interesting thing about the banner was that it was fully transparent; or rather, he could perfectly view both the banner and everything else in his vision at the same time. "Maybe the banner wasn't there at all. No… that's impossible, right?" he asked as if there were actually someone there to reply to him.
~~~ [Nah, dawg. I'm here a'ight, an' I don' plan on leavin]
"What was that?" Li Yang was sure that he heard those words being spoken out loud, instead of reading them. Unfortunately, the banner once again disappeared within a few seconds of arriving. He also noticed that there was always a vibrating sound before the banner appeared, maybe it was like a phone. He decided to ignore that line of reasoning for a later stage.
As he was trying to understand the situation, Li Yang realised the state that his body was in. His heart seemed to be beating at 1000 BPM, while his body was slowly dematerialising.
"Am I dying?"
"Wait, aren't I already dead?"
"How can a dead man die?"
These questions came to mind and he immediately spoke them aloud, once again expecting an answer from the empty space around him.
~~~ [You are dead, User. Your soul is unstable because of your mental state]
~~~ [Please take a seat and relax, this one will do its utmost to help you]
"Who are you? Why do you keep on talking to me?"
~~~ [Calm down, peasant. Then perhaps I shall deign to answer the questions of a being as lowly as you]
"Ahhhhh! Your voice keeps on changing. Stop talking, let me think."
~~~ [I shall endeavour to follow your commands as accurately and completely as I am able. Your patience is highly appreciated, Master Yang]
At this point, Li Yang became irritated with the mysterious banner that kept on changing its voice and manner of speaking. He decided that he would calm down, and then try to understand the situation that he found himself in.
"The oldest thing that I remember is that ancient being speaking. Just like any old man, that being wanted to advise me to make them feel smarter."
~~~ [That being is the greatest power in all of everything, please don't disrespect it]
Li Yang unconsciously ignored the banner and focused on trying to calm himself down.
He crossed his legs and sat down, consciously taking deep breaths and maintaining focus solely on those breaths. Within the lotus position, Li Yang steadied his emotions: rhythmically breathing in and out while trying not to think of anything.
"This feels so pointless," he thought.
"I can feel that I am already calm, no raging emotions fighting for my attention. Except, there's still this miniscule point in my mind telling me that I should be fearing for my life. It feels wrong."
With this thought in mind, Li Yang attempted to release that feeling, to experience it. The problem was, he didn't know how to interact with his mind. Li Yang, tried to interact both physically and mentally with the speck. He hit, shook and covered his head with no luck. He tried mentally grabbing and expanding it too, none of them worked. Until eventually, Li Yang came up with an hypothesis.
"When I do things, I don't think about doing them, I just do them. What if, for me to interact with my mind, all I need to do is think of it as being open."
Unfortunately, this level of 1st person thought was not one of Li Yang's skills. He tried, for what felt like hours, to just believe that the speck was open and everything within it, was released.
"How am I supposed to visualise something that I don't know, the information needs to come from somewhere. I'm basically trying to know the contents of a box, before looking in the box. Anything is possible. Nonetheless, I will do my best to get this working."
~~~ [It seems like User is attempting to release the emotional stabiliser. Should {The System} do that for you?]
"Oh, you're still here. That's good to know."
"Do you plan on staying for long?"
~~~ [{The System} is here for the guidance of Spirits through reincarnation.]
~~~ [Once User reincarnates, {The System} will find a new host to serve.]
"Ok, interesting."
"Then, do you have a name? I feel uncomfortable with simple thinking of you as system."
~~~ [{The System} is a great power in the underworld, {The System} has only one name: {The System}.]
~~~ [It is disrespectful to call {The System} anything other than {The System}.]
"Ok, ok. Chill, please. I will call you The System. Does that make you, happy?"
~~~ [{The System} does not experience emotions, emotions are for living beings. {The System} is simply a tool to simplify the lives of higher beings.]
"So, I'm a higher being?"
~~~ [User is hilarious, User is but a speck of dust compared to those higher beings.]
"Ok, next on the agenda: stop me calling me User. You can call me Master Yang."
~~~ [{The System} understands, User will now be referred to as Master Yang.]
"Seriously, that's amazing. Thank you, System."
~~~ [It is {The System}, but {The System} will forgive Master Yang for this transgression. If Master Yang expects {The System} to respect himself, then Master Yang should do the same in return.]
