Chapter 1 - The End

"Without death, life is meaningless. Without life, death is meaningless. My beautiful creation, you have an important job to complete and I give you this gift as both something to strive towards and something to push you forward," a disembodied, androgynous voice booms into the dark unknown that Li Yang finds himself in.

Fwoosh, Li Yang then finds himself flung away from the voice at an incomprehensible speed. He flew for what felt like decades with no company but his own. Leading to him slowly giving in to insanity and losing all ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.

Until eventually, in the blink of an eye, Li Yang arrived in a vast plane filled with ghoulish multi-coloured spirits of indistinguishable features forming queues for billions of kilometres.

After a moment of stunned silence, Li Yang started gaining back his faculties, but, unfortunately, the heavens didn't like this; or maybe he was just incredibly unlucky. Funnily enough, Li Yang was considered to be the lucky one in his meager friend group; they would joke about him having saved the universe in a previous life, even though he always considered himself to only be slightly luckier than the average person. Though who knows what the average person's level of luck is.

While waiting to regain control of his body, Li Yang pressured himself into looking around himself. Floating above the plane, Li Yang had an awe-inspiring view of what was going around him, even if he didn't know what exactly was happening. It made him feel like he was the only sober person at a party with nothing to do but listen to drunk people talking: it made no sense.

~~~ [Soul-form transmission stable]
A banner that seemed both near and far as well as a vibrating sound instantaneously appeared in front of Li Yang and, out of fear, he swiped his hand in front of his face while also attempting to jump away from it.
This, of course, led to a problem, he didn't know how to control his flight. So, Li Yang began aimlessly drifting and spinning in mid-air. He then tried to rectify his situation by twisting his body against the flow of his momentum.
~~~ [User is unstable, determining things…]

This confused Li Yang.

~~~ [Stop moving, User. System can rectify stability issues]
Li barely even noticed this banner; he was reaching a full-blown panic attack at that point. He couldn't even think about how weird it was that he hit when swiping at the mysterious banner.
~~~ [User is not cooperative, initiating Soul-form suspension]

Li Yang stopped moving, not by choice at least. This didn't stop his panic attack, though. In fact, it worsened it, to the point that Li Yang was about to faint to relieve himself from the fear.

Because Li Yang was just a Soul-form, he wasn't experiencing any of the usual physical symptoms of panic attacks. This doesn't mean that he experienced nothing, the soul is sensitive to the human mind and a panic attack is based wholly in the mind. His body was boiling hot to the sight. How is one boiling hot to the sight, you ask? Streams of soul matter were rapidly escaping from his form while the rest of his matter bubbled, as if his soul were trying to split apart into nothing.

~~~ [Soul-form suspension complete]
~~~ [Emotions out of equilibrium, initialising emotional dampener]
