Chapter 4 - The Gathering.

"Today we are gathering to talk about a new threat that has made itself known!"

The village chief announces, making everyone aware of his presence. Soon almost all of the villagers are standing in front of his stand waiting for his next words.

"Recently a few of our adventurers heard rumours of a great snake deity that grants wishes. However when they eventually found the temple they were attacked by this apparent god and injured greatly."

Many of the villagers are stunned by this knowledge and gasps are heard.

"We have decided that if that creature decides to attack our village many of us will die, so because of that we're going to make the first strike and allow our top adventurers to kill this fake god!"

Many opinions are heard from the crowd some booing, some applauding, and some completely ignoring the Village Chief.

"Anyone that opposes this will answer to me!"

All who were booing before become quite as to not be punished.

"Who volunteers to kill this beast?"

The Chief asks, but no one answers for a while.

Until one group of silver rank adventurers raises their hands.

"Ah, and who might you be called?"

The chief asks with curiosity, everyone turns to the group.

"We are the followers of the God of Good, Arcana!"

The group says excitedly.

"We will slay that horrible impersonation of a god."

The chief walks towards them and light emits from his hand. He than places his hands on every one of their heads until he's reached the last one. The group looks confused and asks:

"What are you doing, Chief?"

They ask.

"I am using magic to increase your power, speed, and wits, so you may be strong enough to defeat it. I have failed to tell you that the injuries were all caused by a single swipe of the tail.".

The group looks shocked but still aren't going to back down after all they did receive the Chiefs blessing.

All of this has been watched by a couple yellow snakes, so the element of surprise the group wanted will not be given.

After a day of preparing, the group sets off to the great serpent forest. It will take them around an hour to reach the forest so the Great serpent deity they talk about, has enough time to gather all of his snake underlings to fight for him. They do soon reach the forest and start looking around. Their map reading skills are not very good, but they do have an elf in their squad, so navigating a forest is not that hard. They go through the forest quickly but don't seem to find the temple immediately. Along the way they encounter many wild beasts such as Earth boars, Salamanders, and a variety of elemental snakes. They make progress advancing to their destination until they come to a stop. Before them is a large black snake with red eyes and Stoney scales. It curls up then snaps towards them at high speeds only blocked by a wall of stone and dirt that was raised from the ground. As an elf the navigator can use magic without being blessed by a god. Mainly earth and nature magic though. The giant snake whips around the wall and bites down on one of the unsuspecting adventurers. They scream in pain as a chunk of their flesh is ripped out of their body. The others charge towards the snake and slash with their swords creating 3 large cuts in its body. It slaps its tail at them but it's stopped by a tree that rapidly grew from the ground using magic. The biggest adventurer known as 'Knum' Slashes through the snake with force beyond any average adventurer.

After killing it they resume their progression through the forest until reaching the temple. In their journey they met with many other strong beasts but struck them all down as well. Now that they've arrived at the temple they start preparing their potions and weapons to kill the 'God impersonation'.
