Clancy needed to speak more with Sissy. She had been wrong in wanting to interfere with her life. Beatrice was right. Their lives had been elevated out of the muck and mire of low-born society. Sissy was free to fill her days however she wished.
Clancy felt a nagging feeling of guilt in her gut. She had only meant to help her little sister. She realized now maybe she had meddled too much. She had basically called her everything but a 'slut' this morning. Sissy had done nothing to receive that type of treatment.
She had done what Clancy had asked her to, which was to live here. She had done her daily studies and embroidery classes. She was acting the part of being a gentle lady. Clancy realized Sissy had asked for none of this. She had thrust this upon her.
