Sissy held Clancy until Clancy could gather her composure. Once she did. She spoke.
" I do not want you to think that I have forgotten where we came from or that I despise the poor now. That is not the case. I just assumed you would want this because I do. I understand that you are your own person, and who you choose to marry is truly your decision that I will support." Clancy felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders.
Sissy felt the admiration she had for her sister grow more. Initially, Sissy had thought that Clancy had interrupted her music lesson to continue to fuss at her. She had been pleasantly surprised when Clancy had been truthful and vulnerable with her about her feelings.
Sissy whipped the tears from Clancy's cheeks. "My dear sister. Can I tell you a secret?" She asked.
Clancy nodded her head 'yes'.
