"When you return..."
"...will you follow the path..."
"...or will you become the one who makes it for others?"
The question lingered in the evening air.
Feroz did not answer immediately.
He stood quietly.
The breeze moved through the grass around him.
For the first time since entering the Learning Path...
he did not search for the perfect answer.
He simply thought.
Then...
he looked at the old man.
"I don't know."
Silence.
The old man smiled.
Not with disappointment.
With approval.
"Good."
Feroz frowned.
"That's enough?"
The old man nodded.
"If you had answered with certainty..."
"...I would have known you were not ready."
Feroz remembered the fifth future.
The one who had said,
"I don't know everything."
Suleiman had called that version...
the healthiest leader.
Perhaps...
this was why.
The old man stepped aside.
Beyond him...
the stone path stretched toward a familiar forest.
Feroz recognized it immediately.
His eyes widened.
"The Village..."
The old man nodded.
"Every student who completes the deeper lessons..."
"...returns to where his journey truly began."
Feroz looked ahead.
"So I'm going back."
"For a little while."
Without another word...
he started walking.
The old man remained where he was.
After several steps...
Feroz looked back.
The hill was empty.
The old man was gone.
Only the wind remained.
...
The forest welcomed him with familiar sounds.
Leaves rustled softly.
Birds called from distant branches.
The strange pressure that surrounded the deeper halls had disappeared.
Everything felt...
lighter.
The narrow trail curved between ancient trees.
After several minutes...
wooden rooftops appeared through the branches.
The Village of Echoes.
Smoke rose peacefully from stone chimneys.
Children laughed somewhere in the distance.
Villagers moved naturally between the small houses.
Nothing looked extraordinary.
Yet everything felt precious.
For a long moment...
Feroz simply stood there.
When he had first arrived...
this village had been another mystery.
Now...
it felt like home.
Before he could take another step...
a familiar voice shouted,
"You're finally back!"
Feroz turned.
Ayan came running across the open square.
Exactly as energetic as ever.
He stopped only a few steps away.
Then crossed his arms dramatically.
"I was beginning to think you decided to become an old philosopher."
A smile escaped Feroz.
"I considered it."
"Terrible choice."
Ayan shook his head.
"You'd spend all day asking questions instead of eating."
Feroz laughed.
A real laugh.
One that surprised even himself.
Ayan studied him carefully.
Then his smile softened.
"You changed."
Feroz looked down at his hands.
"I know."
"No."
Ayan shook his head.
"I don't mean stronger."
He pointed toward Feroz's chest.
"You've become quieter."
The words reminded Feroz of the deeper halls.
The quieter the path...
the fewer people walked beside you.
Before he could answer...
another familiar voice spoke.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to notice."
Feroz turned.
Suleiman stood near the old stone well at the center of the village.
His calm expression had not changed.
Beside him...
stood Mariam.
Her gentle eyes carried the same warmth they had inside the white chamber.
Feroz looked between them.
"You both..."
Mariam smiled.
"Our lessons ended."
Suleiman finished the thought.
"And every teacher returns home after the lesson is complete."
The explanation was simple.
Yet it answered the question Feroz had carried since leaving the trials.
He bowed his head respectfully.
"Thank you."
Neither teacher answered immediately.
Instead...
Suleiman asked,
"What did you learn?"
Feroz opened his mouth.
Then closed it again.
There were too many lessons.
Too many halls.
Too many questions.
Finally...
he smiled.
"I think..."
"...I'll spend the rest of my life answering that."
For the first time...
Suleiman laughed aloud.
"I believe you will."
Near the edge of the square...
another figure slowly approached.
Sameer.
The broken metal symbol still hung around his neck.
He looked relieved.
"I knew you'd come back."
Feroz smiled.
"You never doubted?"
Sameer shook his head.
"The man who sent me said you would return."
Feroz's expression became serious.
"The grey-cloaked man."
Sameer nodded.
"I still never saw his face."
"He only told me one thing before he disappeared."
Feroz stepped closer.
"What did he say?"
Sameer's voice became quiet.
"He said..."
"When he returns... tell him the Debt has not been sleeping."
Silence settled over the square.
Even Suleiman's expression became thoughtful.
Mariam lowered her eyes.
Ayan looked confused.
Only Feroz understood how heavy those words truly were.
Rahim.
Qadir.
The Book.
The Echo Well.
Everything seemed to point toward the same mystery.
And somewhere...
far beyond the safety of the village...
the world was still moving.
Waiting.
For him.
