Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Freshman Year

Nobody POV:

The students are walking into the school as the day starts. Seeing all the parents drop off their kids and them saying goodbye before they enter their first day of high school: the place they now see for 4 years. After meeting everyone in class, the bell suddenly rings, startling all the students in Freshman English.

Mrs. Mandy POV:

"Good Morning class! Welcome to Freshman English! I am Mrs. Mandy. I will be your English teacher for this year. We will be going around the class and introducing each other to your peers. Uh... Marissa Carlton, can you please start us off?"

"H-hi. I'm Marisa Carlton. I am 15 and a Freshman." She says as she shakes nervously.

"Thank you, Marisa. You did great!"

20 minutes pass by as the whole class introduces themselves.

"Alright everyone, please stand up and partner with someone with the same color hair as you. Whoever doesn't have a partner, please find the nearest person without a partner and be with them." Mrs. Mandy announced to the class.

After all that is situated, the class begins to chatter to their partners.

Marisa POV:

"H-hi, I'm Marisa."

"Hi, Marisa. I'm Katie. Katie Charleston. Nice to meet you!" She replies with a hand extended and a smile on her face.

The two shake hands and chat until class is dismissed.

"Hey, uh, Katie, right?" Marisa says.

"Yeah, that's me. What's up?" I respond with a smile.

"I just wanted to say thank you." Katie says to me with a sincere smile.

"Thank you? For what?"

"For not judging me. I really appreciate it. I have to get to class now but I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I'll be here. See you tomorrow."

5 Hours Later

I walk through the door, smelling some delicious smells coming from the kitchen. I walk in and see my mom cooking some dinner.

Katie POV:

"Mom! I'm home. School was good. I'm going to tell you all about it." I say while I set my bag down.

"Hi Honey! I'm glad you had a good first day. Did you make any friends?" Her mom says from the kitchen.

"Actually, yes. I met this super kind girl named Marisa. She seemed really nice." I reply as I sit down at the table, watching my mom cut vegetables for dinner.

"Should we invite her over for dinner?" Her mom says, looking at her for a moment while studying her expression.

"We can but I didn't get any contact information from her. We may have to do it tomorrow, Mom. I'll talk to her about it at school." I say as I look away shyly.

6 hours later

She takes a shower and heads into her room to go to bed for school

"Good night, Dear," Mom says as she tucks me in to bed. "I love you, baby girl. Sleep well!"

"Good night, Momma! I love you too. Sleep well."

Her Mom kisses her on the forehead and turns off the light as she closes her bedroom door.

I say quietly to myself, "I am having a hard time sleeping due to me catching myself thinking about Marisa."

"I'll see her tomorrow." I say as I turn over and drift off to sleep.
