"Don't shoot it!! Okay!! Don't shoot!!" Mom shouted, hiding behind the door. "Okay!! But how do I dispel it??" I asked with my hands hanging in front of me.
"Do the same thing but reverse the order!! And do it step by step!! If you skip a step, it will explode!!" Stated the mom, scared of what might happen.
I take a deep breath before doing the same thing I did before, but in a reverse order, just as Mom said. I first will the dirt to lose its spiked shape, which slowly but surely it did, turning into normal dirt.
Once the shape is gone, I had to will the dirt to become mana again. As soon as the dirt started to turn into mana, it started to dissipate in the air, in the same way salt dissolves in water.
'I can still feel my mana in the air, but I can't control it. I guess that this is what it means to have your mana consumed. Since once you turn it into a spell, it can't come back to you. I wonder what would happen if I threw it? ' I start to wander to myself.
After doing the same thing 2 more times, I turned to Mom. "This wasn't that difficult nor scary, Mom. Why were you so scared??" I asked, perplexed, as to why she was screaming and hiding earlier.
"Well, I am glad that you weren't scared. You have shown me how a battlemage should act, and I am very proud of you, son!" Mom stated flashing me with a dazzling smile, which I reciprocated.
"Yeah!!! I am awesome, aren't I??" I jumped overjoyed with my magic, "Yes, you are!! Now, why don't you show your siblings what you can do??" Mom suggested.
"Yes, I will!! Bye, Mom!!" I said to Mom before running to the library, as that's where all of us tend to be.
"Rhea, Cedric!!" I shouted as I entered the library, joy written all over my face. "What is it, Jade?? Rhea went to a party today!" Cedric answered, looking over me; he had a big book open in front of him.
"Mom just taught me how to use magic!! Now I know how to use the first earth elemental spell: spike!!" I shouted with joy. "Ohhhhhh!!! Is that so!! Show me!!".
I started going through the same motion as I did with Mom, as a 2-foot-tall spike made of dirt hovered above me, much to Brother's astonishment.
"It's already this big! Right, this means you are an apprentice mage now! Congratulations, Jade!" Said Cedric with a grin on his face.
"Thanks, Brother Cedric!! Unfortunately Sister Rhea isn't here. I wanted to show her that I too can use elemental magic now." I stated, infuriated, that I couldn't show her how cool I am now.
Soon a black cat appeared out of its own shadow. "Young Lord Jade, your father requests your presence in his office." Said the black cat, this cat is father's 1st familiar. "Okay, tell him I will be there." I said while slightly tugging at my tunic.
After hearing my response, the cat jumped back into its own shadow, leaving me so anxious that my legs were shaking like crazy and my hands were sweating.
"Don't worry, Jade. Mom must have talked with him. And now he wants to congratulate you. He did the same thing with me and Rhea, so it's fine, trust me." Cedric said calming me a lot.
"Now go meet him; Dad doesn't like being left waiting," he added, making me even more anxious.
I left the library quickly, heading towards Father's office. As I knocked on the door, I heard Father's voice inside beckoning me to come inside.
As I opened the door and stepped inside, I saw Father's office clearly; it had a beautiful oak desk full of stacked letters.
Behind Dad was a huge window that overlooked all of the west side of Braavos. The walls were decorated with relics from Grandfather's travels; one of them is an old sword that was used by the mad king himself in one of the tourneys. There is also a Valyrian steel sword up there; I don't know which one it is, though.
All in all, there are about 5 shiny swords, 2 shields, and 3 sets of armour, one of which was pitch black, even more so than the others. And all these weapons and armours were enchanted by Grandfather himself.
'I wonder when I will get to learn enchantment?? As it is one of our family's specialities. Alongside storm magic. ' I thought to myself.
"I heard you did great in your lesson today. Your mom was telling me you managed to form a spike 2 feet tall. That's not something an apprentice can do in their first 100 spell casts, and yet you did. From your first try, nonetheless." Dad said, tacking me back from my train of thoughts.
I could see him behind the desk, reading a letter. He looked tired as if he hadn't slept for a long time or fought against an army of chimaeras and dragons nonstop.
"Yeah, I did!!!" I said I was happy to get this much attention from Dad. He is pretty much always out on jobs or in here reading letters, so this is a nice change of pace.
I started releasing my mana above me and slowly turned it into dirt, then I gave it a spiked shape, and ta-da. A 2-foot-tall spike was above me; Dad looked at me strangely for a second before smiling at me.
'Getting this much attention from dad was good from time to time.' I thought happily to myself.
Dad had a pensive look on his face for a minute before losing whatever doubt he had. "Get ready; 3 days from now we are leaving to visit some ^Friends^" Dad said with some disdain at the word friends.
