One of the first people Ning went to see early the next morning was President Helen Morstell.
He arrived in the capital city early enough and asked for an appointment with the president. Even if her calendar was full, given who had asked to meet her, there was no doubt that the president would clear her schedule to meet him.
He walked into her office and found it empty of everyone but her.
It had been a while since they had spoken privately, and judging by the amount of paperwork spread across her office, the aftermath of the summit had created far more political work than Ning had imagined. Morstell looked tired when he arrived, though she immediately put aside the document in her hand once she saw him.
"You finally decided to show up," she said, leaning back in her chair. "Do you have any idea how many reports I've received about things you were apparently involved in without anyone being able to tell me what actually happened?"
