Chapter 562 - Tale of a cold mountain.

Long long ago, about 250 years ago before Jay entered the lands. There was a mighty and peaceful kingdom in the north. Where all the people lived their lives with pride and happiness. The Kingdom was brimming with wealth and even beggars were able to sleep with their bellies full. Prospering in trade and their main export was wheat.

God granted the King a special gift a child to Countinue their lineage forward. It was a girl. That day the Kingdom celebrated joy. Many came to bless the child, but one day a guru when he saw the child he knew something was wrong.

With one touch he felt coldness in his hands.

Because of her body heat offsetting the temperature many didn't notice. The Guru informed the King that he needed to examine her. It left the king worried but he allowed him under supervision. Afterwards the guru returned to the King and proclaimed of a rare disorder that the princess has.

It was the Mana Dissociation Disorder

It is different from regular mana drainage. In this disorder mana escapes from the body but when leaving the body it converts itself to a respective element without user control.

It is treatable in the Foundation but not yet in the lands.

Whhich is why. Despite numerous medicines, nothing worked on her. But nothing serious happened for a few years.

Her body had become used to the coldness. And others would wear cold clothes in the middle of summer. As the years went by her core expanded and she was able to store more mana. Her body was unconsciously in taking and expelling large amounts of mana. Which caused light snowfall to occur at first.

But when she turned 15 it turned into hail and blizzards soon after.

These blizzard were becoming frequent and long lasting.

For along with her, the mana vessel grew . Both the mana intake and expenditure as well.

The crops were dying due to cold. Streets were rendered inaccessible., wood prices skyrocketed. The Kingdom which had never seen starvation was on the verge of seeing one.

The King had to keep a have rock in his heart. And control his nerves. As through the cold nights he dragged his daughter to the far mountain ranges. And left her there.

With a heavy heart, the King parted ways with her with a conflicted face. And left her a message.

"Never ever step down from the mountains, you are nothing but a nuisance to mankind"

With this cruel message the King exiled the child on the mountains. With rations that might help her survive for a couple of weeks. The child was heartbroken as she chased after her father. But before she could reach him. She was stopped by the guards accompanying the King.

For she was no longer the princess, but just an exiled person. Sitting on the top of the mountain with just stale rations in her hand. Filled with anger she tried to throw the food away. For they reminded her of the King.

She was also old enough to understand about his choice.

He had to become a villain to his own child for the greater good. She cried her heart out which froze the ground around her raised icicles spikes in a star shaped pattern.

She began her cold solitary life in the mountains. The villagers of a different region who were living there hailed her as a mountainous deity. They believed that if they ever anger her. A huge avalanche would come crashing down the mountains and kill everyone in their village.

That's why every week they offered food and clean drinking water as offerings. They would leave the offerings in a small shrine they had made for the Lord of the Mountains.

She would take these offerings and savor them. Sometimes the offerings which were homemade meals bought tears to her eyes which would be frozen and stick to her face.

Her days would be filled with desperate attempts to survive. Avoiding wolves and monsters at every turn.

She wanted to escape into the lands. But if she did the kind people who were leaving offerings would suffer from extreme blizzards due to her.

She had built herself a small hut to made of leaves and branches interlocked together to hide from the horrors of the night. But because the build was so flimsy it blew away at the slightest wind.

From the basics needs of humanity food, water, clothing and shelter. She had only food. Her clothes she was wearing had been worn out and her shelter broken.

Finally crouched down broken and depressed. She has given up on life and the only way to end this curse was her death. So with her final act of courage she approached the steep cliff of the mountains beneath her was 7 stories tall building worth of height.

She looked beneath and saw death. Pure death, just a single courageous step forward. But every her every sense told her to move back. She thought that she had become numbed to every emotion to once again feel fear coursing through her mind. Desperately attempting to over ride her depression.

It worked, she turned back and walked a few steps and sighed as her warm breath clashed with the icy winds caused by her own disorder.

? :

Glad to see you didn't jump.

Before her was a woman with an icy stature. Her hair turned white due to age. She wore a navy blue died dire wolf fur covered. Her nape was splayed with fur as soft as clouds. It rested well around her neck, looked more so like it belonged, the matt lining adding a hint of rouge to her otherwise calculated persona.. Eyes like crystal one could feel their reflection upon a small gaze, pale and smooth skin and turquoise blue paint covered long nails and an authority defining crown made of clear ice. She wore high heels made entirely of ice. But they could be easily mistaken for glass heels.

With every step her heels touched the land it was covered with ice. Her body radiated an icy aura that decreased the temperature by a few degrees celcius.

With the cold icy glaring eyes fixated right on the girl she was panicking. Her eyes would slightly shift and wouldn't match her gaze.

"Are you who" the girl said as she became cold and couldn't pronounce words clearly and she jumbled up the words.

"I am the Queen of Ice, Melenia"

Speaking with the authority and rigid words. As she spoke the words the breath which was being exhaled out was being turned into little crystals of ice.

"You're father asked me to aid you, getting rid of your curse"

Even though the words were simple their impact was heavier than expected. She have her the reality sooner than expected.

"I cannot heal your curse, but I can teach you to control it"

When she heard that even the Great Queen of Ice cannot undo it. Her hopes were shattered her mouth slightly opened and her reason to live was lost. Her head slightly tilted back to the cliff

"You can end your life here and be rid of all the pain you have been suffering or allow me to shoe you the way"

The queen of ice held her hand forward but strong winds started blowing towards her. Pushing her further back to the cliffs. But despite having the option to take the easy path. Her body pushed through and with slow and heavy steps forward she held held her hand and all the winds vanished.

The Blizzard calmed down but the clouds were still looming in the mountains.

The Ice Queen was one of the strongest element users. Right besides the New Man of Steel and the One with the Earth.

The Queen dragged the girl into a safe place away from the cliffs and the monsters. She then taught her how to use her powers. How to utilize mana and water to create steam and ice. How to build ice structures and ice soldiers.

After years of training she built herself a marvelous castle. Entirely made of ice and maintained by the blizzard. Where both of them lived together. Her training was very rigorous but she had nothing else to do and nothing more to lose.

But sadly the time came to part ways. The Ice Queen had taught everything she could to her new disciple. And passed the baton to a new generation. To carry the name of the Ice Queen. The former queen left the mountains and once again the girl was left isolated in the mountains.

Now she could even stop the blizzards on her own letting sunlight pass through the clouds and touch the mountains.

After years she had felt the ray of sunshine touch her skin and the gentle heat of the soothing her.

But not enough to fill her solitary heart. As time passed by she became obsessed with ice magic. And her heart grew colder and colder just like the previous queen.

3 years passed and she became an adult.

Her mind had become much crueler. As she begin to sought revenge against everyone. She began preparing her army of ice soldiers to march upon the lands. And except for the village who gave her offerings. Exterminate everyone.

But that too would shatter as an envoy came crawling through the blizzards at the castle door.

Where the ice soldiers took them inside. The envoy stood before the queen didn't even bow. For she had lost her former glory.

The envoy informed the girl. That her master had peacefully passed away. And now as her as the successor she had been made the New Queen of Ice. Just hearing this the Ice Queen had filled with sorrow and regret for ever knowing her Master.

The envoy also requested help to wage a war against another kingdom. But all of her sorrow turned into rage as she used her ice soldiers to cut down all of the envoys.

And sealed the doors of the palace.

She sat on her icy throne and to drown all of her sorrows she encased herself in ice casting herself into a very deep slumber.

The blizzards grew even more harsh for the girl had let go of all the restraints. And had begin to affect nearby villages.

They tried to offer sacrifice, conducted many rituals to calm the Lord of the mountains down but nothing worked.

Eventually they had to leave their homeland. Abondoning their ancestral property. Many were captured by bandits some who escaped were rescued by the Foundation.

And the foundation quickly rescued the others and they gave them a new home. In the territory of the Gods.

Half a century passed. The blizzards were dim but ever present. They had formed glaciers which had formed a new river and causing many to settle on the riverbank.

The Foundation finally took a deep breath after sorting out Technological revolution, Magic industrialization and social paradigm shifts.

And they finally took notice of the mountains which had been hit with blizzard for half a century. There were unusual reading that it was a man-made event so a team of brave researchers set out to uncover the phenomenon.

Only to return back dut to the intense blizzard. It was named as the Mountain Blizz due to the same reason. And eventually it reached the ears of the King.

And he sent Roy to uncover it's mystery...
