Karl Allen was tired of listening to his children talk as though none of this amounted to a real problem, all of the story was just so wrong. Somewhere along the way, he'd clearly failed to raise them properly. He'd always assumed those cautionary tales about wealthy kids gone so wrong belonged to other families — this morning proved, painfully, that his own weren't exempt, no matter how much money or discipline he'd tried to instill in them over the years, doing such a disgracefull act wasn't something he had imagined they could do.
Ashamed, he picked up his phone anyway. His business was on the line, and pride wasn't going to save it. Maybe their long friendship would buy him enough goodwill to talk Eli into reversing the contract cancellations, at least some of them. Reluctantly, he dialed, already rehearsing what he'd say.
