Twenty minutes later, Eliott was back at his apartment as promised. The long day had left him tired, and fortunately Alex wasn't waiting when he arrived, so he decided to take a quick shower first. With his keen instinct for trouble, he'd sensed from the way she'd spoken on the phone that something was wrong, and he braced himself for whatever was coming.
