After a while, Alex calmed down, then grew a little embarrassed as she realized how much she'd cried in front of everyone. She pulled out of Eliott's embrace and looked at him with a shy smile. His shirt was smeared with her makeup, and she couldn't help hiding her face, knowing what a mess it must be.
"Um... the bathroom, please?" Alex asked, still covering her face.
"The door on your left." Eliott thought she looked genuinely adorable in that moment. He'd already seen her bare-faced, even in a far worse state — he smiled, thinking of the night she'd been drunk and pulled all manner of nonsense in front of him.
Alex hurried into the bathroom and washed her face. Standing bare-faced before the mirror, she found herself, for the first time, sincerely grateful to her mother for giving her such beautiful skin. Even without makeup, she was still presentable.
When she came out, she paused in the doorway, taking a curious moment to look around the room.
