Clyde did not start talking because he was sorry. He started when he understood that Pete had left him to take the blame.
The interview took place at the police station, with Olivia and a detective in the room. Clyde sat with his hands cuffed in front of him. His lawyer had advised him to say nothing, but Clyde kept looking at the folder on the table. It held the messages Alex had received, the hotel access records and the footage of him helping the intruder get into her room.
"You won't get much from me," he said.
"Then we can stop here," Olivia replied. "The police already have enough to charge you over the break-in. If you have information about the person who planned it, you can tell your lawyer and let him decide what to do with it."
Clyde's mouth tightened. "Pete Martin hired me."
The detective made a note. Olivia didn't react. "What did he ask you to do?"
