Chapter 4 - Voices- part 1

Jonathan could hear the muffled voices of people chattering. It seemed like a large crowd. It was almost like a thousand bees buzzing in his ear. He wanted to get up and tell them to keep it down. But for some reason he was unable to get up. Like a force that was pulling him down. Now this was messed up. He had just woken up from a coma. What had happened to his body again? His mind was swarming with thoughts. What is this? I remember that I had recovered. Then wy the hell am I not able to get up? was I dreaming? was all my joy in vain? Had I not woken up?One thought proceeded to another until finally he lost his cool and screamed at the top of his lungs " Will someone just help me out?!" And as he opened his eyes he was surprised to find a room full of people staring at him. This was when he realised that the force was only pulling him at his hands, legs and waist. He could move his head. Well this relieved him. He wasn't back in coma. He wasn't dreaming. His body was back to normal. But his happiness soon faded as he recollected the death of his mother. He felt his eyes warm up. Tears slowly started pouring down his face. He couldn't control his body anymore. That's when one of the men shouted in an agitated voice " That's enough now! Can't you see the lad crying? Did you bring him in to suffer or what?!"
Walking towards Jonathan he said in a low tone " Seriously people...get a hold of yourself. Have you lost all your humanity?"
He could hear people shouting " Arthur, have you gone crazy?! This whole scavenging thing is getting to you, You have lost your mind. Use your brains, Arthur! He could be dangerous! He's officially nuts, isn't he?!
As he untied Jonathan he said in a calmer voice " It's alright lad. Yer safe now."
Even though Jonathan could hear the disagreeing voices behind him. Somehow he felt safe. His life had been a mess for the past few hours. He was broken. Hearing all angry and irritated voices over the years had made him depressed. After a long time had he heard such a comforting voice.
