Chapter 72 - The Evolution of the Crispy Mage

The forest was quiet.

Too quiet.

Even the wind held its breath.

But it was also wind was thick with expectation for what is about to occour.

Lucky sat cross-legged in the center of the clone camp. Lucky's eyes were closed, the faint golden shimmer of Origin Luck drifting like dust around him. The clones formed a circle, their gazes fixed on him waiting for the change the change that they were all waiting for.

Inside, Lucky's heartbeat slowed.

He had 9 EP. Nine precious points. Nine chances to roll fate itself.

"…Alright," Lucky muttered. "Let's see what this gamble really feels like."

A soft hum vibrated from deep within his soul. Not his body. Not his Universal Core. Something deeper. A well of energy he hadn't sensed before, waiting, patient.

When he focused on it, the hum sharpened into a voiceless choice. A panel flickered before his eyes.

Lucky's eyes still shut.

He felt as if he could change everything... no... Evolve Everything then without hesitation he chose his Body his first Choice the one he needed to advance for the better future

A notification shimmered in the air before him:

Body (+)

————————————

EP: 1

————————————

1: 4x bone density (weight penalty) — Tier 2

2: 8-hour oxygen retention — Tier 2

3: Photosynthetic Body — Tier 4

————————————

Lucky opened one eye. "…Huh. Well, that's new."

Lucky blinked.

Then grinned.

"Alright… time to consult the "Myslef" ."

He turned to the clones.

"Which one?"

The army shifted.

The clones crowded closer. Some rubbed their chins. Others immediately shook their heads.

"Bone density? You'd turn into a walking anvil."

"You'd also sink like a rock in water."

"Eight-hour oxygen retention… useful if you plan to nap underwater."

"Or get strangled a lot."

Lucky raised a brow. "You're all killing me here."

A scientist-clone stepped forward, adjusting his cracked glasses. "Photosynthetic Body. Without question."

Another clone added, "It's like having a solar-powered battery. And you're outside all the time."

Lucky scratched his head. "So… I'll be like a plant?"

"More like a sun-powered mage," the scientist said

Without hesitation, he chose the Photosynthetic Body.

A warm drop of golden light emerged from his soul and merged into his body.

Then, the description appeared:

Photosynthetic Body (Tier 4)

Passive Ability

During daylight, constantly plenishes user's energy (HP, MP, Stamina) and grants a metabolizing effect that boosts natural healing rate and Quickness by mutation level-based amounts.

Lucky blinked at the glowing description, then grinned. "So basically… free energy source."

When he shared it aloud, the clones erupted.

"This is insane!"

"Day time regeneration!"

"We don't even need to worry about stamina management anymore!"

The scientist clone smiled. "The clear winner is indeed: Photosynthetic Body. It can replenishes energy and accelerates healing. More importantly even if it creates a condition-based regeneration. During the day, you'll be untouchable in stamina and recovery."

Lucky was happy. "this was indeed the best choice, my luck's never wrong."

But then, one clone grimy robes, half his face was muddy burst out laughing like a lunatic.

Everyone turned toward him, confused.

Lucky squinted. "…Alright, Einstein, what's so funny?"

The clone smirked. "What if and I'm saying what if if we keep evolving Photosynthetic Body… wouldn't that basically make you… like a certain alien ?"

The clearing fell silent.

Every pair of clone eyes widened.

Lucky's grin froze. "…Superman."

Then, slowly, their expressions changed.

Because… it was possible.

Some started rushing toward Lucky. "Evolve it! Evolve it now!"

Another clone whispered, voice trembling. "Solar energy. Unlimited recovery. Flight if pushed far enough…"

"Heat vision!" another barked.

In seconds, the disciplined army dissolved into a frenzy of muttering.

Lucky waved his arms. "Alright, calm down, calm down! I'm not turning into superman overnight!"

Finally, the scientist clone cut through the chaos, voice sharp. "Focus! Evolution is still unpredictable . If we rush, Lucky's body could rupture. First we secure the basics. Then… we experiment."

The clones groaned, half disappointed, half relieved.

Lucky chuckled nervously. "…Yeah, let's not do that yet. That'd be awkward if i suddnly die."

————————————————————————

Now for the next evolution

Lucky didn't hesitate.

He used 3 EP.

The notification reappeared again:

Body (+)

————————————

EP: 3

————————————

1: 10x All Potential — Tier 7 (AN: Reason of bing Tier 7 it is becuase it affects everything and in the end, it only increases Potential)

2: Random Kekkei Genkai (Naruto) — Tier 4

3: Random Physical Quirk (MHA) — Tier 4

————————————

Lucky froze. His eyes locked on the first option. "…Oh."

For a heartbeat, he didn't breathe

Then

HAHAHAHAHA!

he laughed loudly, long, and full of joy.

The clones blinked.

"Boss?" one asked. "You okay?"

Tell us!"

"Don't keep it to yourself, boss!"

Lucky wheezed between laughs. "Alright, alright listen. Options two and three are random power lotteries. Could be god-tier. Could be trash."

After explaining the second and third option the clones were discussing within themselves.

"Kekkei Genkai? That's Naruto-level bloodline stuff!"

"Quirk? That's My Hero Academia! Some of those are broken!"

The clones grumbled but nodded. They'd seen enough anime to know.

"But option one…" Lucky's grin sharpened. "…is 10x All Potential."

Silence slammed into the clearing.

The words sank in like thunder.

One clone whispered. "Ten… times… potential?"

Another dropped to his knees. "This fixes everything."

Lucky raised a hand. "No, you don't understand. It's not just strength. It's not just limits. It's everything. If a normal peak human can lift 500 kilos, that's now 5,000. If Spider-Man can lift 25 tons, with this, he lifts 250."

The realization hit like lightning. The clones went dead silent.

Then they roared.

"DO IT!"

"CHOOSE IT NOW!"

Lucky didn't hesitate. He slammed his choice.

The moment it activated, he expected pain. Or light. Or a cosmic choir.

Instead… nothing.

He blinked, staring at his hands. "...That's it?"

His stat panel updated.

Evolution

All:

10x All Potential (Tier 7): Increases all current and future potential by 10x.

Body:

Photosynthetic Body (Tier 4): Passive ability. During the day, constantly replenishes the user's energy and grants metabolizing regeneration.

Lucky whistled. "…Okay, maybe it doesn't feel like much now, but this is busted."

The clones exploded into cheers. For once, even the hardened veterans looked like children at a festival.

————————————————————————

Lucky held up five fingers. "Alright. Five EP left. All in?"

The clones nodded unanimously.

He used all of them at once.

The panel shifted.

Body (+)

————————————

EP: 5

————————————

1: Steel Body — Tier 3

2: 5x Physical Talent — Tier 5

3: Bio-electricity — Tier 4

————————————

Lucky frowned. "Only Tier 5? After Tier 7? This feels… unlucky."

Lucky sighed. "…Really? This feels kinda weak for 5 EP."

The clones muttered in agreement. "Steel skin? Boring."

"Bio-electricity has some utility… but inconsistent."

Then Lucky read the second one. His eyes widened. "…Wait. Five times Physical Talent?"

He picked Option 2.

The description appeared:

5x Physical Talent (Tier 5): Any physical training or Experience or understanding that requires Physical will progress five times faster.

Lucky almost cried. "You mean… body tempering torture… cut down to one-fifth?!"

But the scientist-clone stepped forward. "Wait… talent vs potential?"

Lucky blinked. "Yeah?"

"Potential is your limit," the scientist said. "Talent is your learning speed. You already have 10x potential. Now, training is 5x faster. So… you'll reach that 10x limit 2 faster than normal. becuase at the end of the say you will need to work harder 10 times normal to reach your limit now it's 2x."

The clones looked at each other. Then at Lucky. Then back at each other.

Finally, they all gave him the same sympathetic look.

Lucky blinked. "…Why are you looking at me like that?"

The scarred officer clone sighed. "Because only you can do the body tempering. We can't share that pain. Which means this blessing… is only for you."

A wave of exaggerated pity washed over the army.

Lucky collapsed forward, banging his head into the dirt. "Of course… OF COURSE."

————————————————————————

Lucky sat cross-legged.

He activated the body technique again.

This time, six minutes in, the pain arrived. But it was muted, dulled. Manageable. His body adjusted faster. His tolerance rose sharper.

Lucky smirked through clenched teeth. "Oh, yeah. This is good. This is real good."

Above him, the sun glowed bright. And for the first time, he felt it. The warmth wasn't just heat it was energy. His Photosynthetic Body drew it in, refueling him. Mana dipped slower. Stamina refilled mid-strain.

The clones scribbled furiously, recording data.

At ten minutes, the pain ticked up. At twenty, it spiked. At forty, Lucky broke, collapsing forward, chest heaving.

But he wasn't shattered. He wasn't ruined. He was smiling.

————————————————————————

Lucky stood, wiping sweat from his brow. He puffed his chest. "Make way. Make way!"

The clones shuffled aside, confused.

Lucky cracked his knuckles, eyes gleaming.

"From this day on," he declared, "Lucky will not be a crispy mage."

He planted his feet before a tree, took a deep breath, and with every ounce of dramatic flair he could muster, threw a punch.

Thump.

Nothing happened.

The tree didn't move.

Not even a dent.

But nothing happened.

Silence.

Then

BWHAHAHAHAHA!

The clones lost it.

Dozens fell to the ground. Hundreds howled, clutching their stomachs. The scientist clone wheezed behind his broken glasses. Even the scarred officer cracked a smile.

Lucky slumped onto the dirt, staring up at the sky with dead eyes. "…So this is my fate."

The clones laughed harder.

They were happy.

which caused Lucky to just keep staring with dead eyes.
