The response unit was still clearing items from the inside, including furniture, vases, pictures, paintings, carpets, and any other remaining valuables. All these objects were worth thousands and millions of dollars. There were works of art and other significant cultural relics that could be dated back to ancient times. Some were gifts from business partners, acquired through friendships and goodwill earned over the years.

But none of that mattered to Beichen.

He stood before the massive portrait of a woman who closely resembled him.

It was his mother.

Next to the portrait was a large photo of the woman who got away. Whether it was due to love, lust, or pure obsession, no one else had been able to embed themselves into his being like she had.

"Mother, look at what your sweet daughter-in-law did to all our memories."
