Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Time passed, days turned into weeks, and weeks into months.

Lore, and all the other Knight's Order members were to remain on high alert, but to return to normal duties and to train and improve their skills.

In the City of Towers, Lore clashed with Valorum day in and day out; blood and sweat drenched Lore's clothes, dripping all over the floor. Valorum himself was sweating and panting heavily. They had been training all day, and the sun began to set below the horizon.

Valorum lowered his weapon and grabbed a towel, and tossed one to his apprentice.

Lore caught the towel and wiped his the grime from his face. He sighed as he felt slightly more refreshed.

'Lore, you have improved quite quickly, faster than most in my opinion. However, you have many weak spots easily exploitable by the enemy. We'll need to work on those, especially, you'll need to work on your brawn. You rely too much on your brute strength. One day you'll meet an enemy you can't just overpower."

Lore took in his Master's words before staring up at the sky.

'That bloody massacre happened so quickly, yet it'll take years to recover. I need to get stronger, and fast. If I'm to become a Knight King I'll need to distinguish myself more' Lore thought to himself as he went through the instinctive motion of putting his sword away.

Time ticks on for Lore. He trains day in and day out. His passion to grow stronger and stronger only seemed to erupt into a giant flame of intensity. As time passed, Lore appearance slowly started to change as well. His hair grew even longer, and so he held it in a ponytail, a scruffy beard sprouted from his face, and his skin darkened slightly with his repeated time in the sun. Muscle formed, fat disappeared, and soon Lore had profound, toned muscles, with little bulk on his body to maintain his agility. The days turned into weeks, weeks into months until eighteen months had passed. The massacre between Internian forces and the Daemons loomed in everyone's minds.

Lore stood atop a rampart, staring off into the sunset.

The clanking of chains and metal pierced Lore's ears as Valorum approached.

"You spent all this time improving your sword skills and your body, so now is the time to improve your magic, and then I think you may be one of the strongest warriors we've seen in ages. Just look at how you've improved over a near two year span of time. Don't let this fees your ego, there is always someone stronger, but I believe in you". Valorum patted Lore on the shoulder as he turned to walk away. Lore followed after Valorum, and as they strode through the manor they spoke about Lore's time there. Reminiscing about when Lore first arrived, and how much he's grown.

Lore thought back to where he came from, his hometown, and his loved ones. Lore was nearly thirty years old, and he felt excited by how close he was to his dream. Lore then thought back to the Daemon attack a year or so ago, and remembered the stories of the strongest Knight King Bartho.

"Lore, today I'm sending uou out on a quest. This will be a Special Rank Quest, and there is a good chance you could die. There is a enormous ravine to our south, and the cavern system hidden within is a labyrinth. Inside that labyrinth lies an adolescent wyrm. I want you to go and explore the labyrinth, find the wyrn and kill it. Bring me its corpse, and I want it done primarily with magic". Valorum spoke gruffly and then dismissed Lore to go prepare for his journey.

Lore spent the next few days practicing his mana control and studied up on his spells. He then prepared his bags and readied himself for what he assumed would be an arduous trek.

Lore took his leave from the city once he said his goodbyes. From there he rode atop a fierce stallion, black and glossy, with sinew muscles practically made of metal. Atop this mount Lore felt like he was flying through the scenery. Countryside blew by and so began Lore's quest to slay a wyrm.
