Chapter 36 - Chapter 36:The forbidden light of amaravati

After Andhanan vanished, the three of them left the place and returned to a chamber inside the palace. From the window of their room, they could see a distant glow — a strange, powerful light shining brightly in the night. It wasn't like the moonlight or any fire; it was as if the sun itself had risen in the middle of the night.

Harold kept staring at that mysterious light for a long time. Lorentz, who was asleep, suddenly woke up and noticed Harold gazing through the window. Curious, he walked over and looked outside as well. Both of them stood there, unable to understand what that light could be.

After some time, they all went back to sleep.

When morning came, the three of them decided to ask the palace servants and local people about the strange light they had seen the previous night. But when they inquired, everyone either ignored their question or acted as if they didn't understand what they were talking about. Some even walked away silently, pretending not to hear.

That's when Harold said, "It's clear that everyone here knows what that light is — they're just afraid to speak about it."

Ken then added, "We came here for a purpose — to find the ancient medicinal scripts and herbs we need. That's all we want. We can't stay in this place for too long."

Before they could discuss further, a messenger arrived, informing them that the Chief Minister of the Kingdom, named Bimbisan, wished to meet them.

Ken looked at the others and said, "They say Bimbisan is a kind and gentle man. Maybe he'll tell us the truth about this place."

The three went to meet him later that day.

Bimbisan entered their chamber — a tall man dressed in royal attire, his face calm yet commanding. Bowing slightly, he said,

"I am Bimbisan, the Chief Minister of this grand city of Amaravati. I welcome you all. Listen carefully to what I am about to say."

He continued,

"We do not know the exact reason for your arrival here in Amaravati. It has been many years since King Raja Raja Cholan sent messengers here, and now you have come after such a long time. Nevertheless, there are certain rules and boundaries you must obey.

You must never go toward the northern region of this island, for that direction is forbidden. Nor should you go toward the southern region. In this land, there are treasures beyond imagination — gold, diamonds, and gems that you have never even seen before. But remember this — if anyone dares to take even a single gem or jewel from this island, they will not find wealth… only death."

He paused, his tone darkening.

"You might have heard of the ruler of this land — King Parantakan. But there is another man here, one even more dangerous than the king himself. His name is Rudra Senan. He possesses immense and terrifying powers. Once, he made a vow that he would never raise his weapon against the royal bloodline, no matter what. Because of that vow, the king's family still stands strong today. In truth, it is Rudra Senan who ensures the order of this empire."

Bimbisan looked at them sternly and added,

"There are many more things you are yet to learn, but not now. It's late — you should rest."

With those words, he left the chamber.

Later that night, as everyone slept, Harold suddenly woke up again. Something drew him toward the window. Looking outside, he saw it once more — the same mysterious light, glowing brightly in the distance. It flickered like a living flame, full of secrets.

He stared at it for a long time, unable to look away. Slowly, his eyelids grew heavy, and he drifted into sleep by the window.

When he woke up again, the light had vanished — the sky was silent, and darkness filled the horizon. But the memory of that strange glow haunted Harold's mind — what was that light, and why did it call to him every night?

That question burned within him endlessly.
