Chapter 38 - 38 stealing

'two dating games that are useless, well there is that alien girl so maybe i could possess her and steal her space ship but that might not work since she could have technology to prevent mind control and stuff like that'

Closing the window i get to the capital in a few hours, on the way there i was training my mana control and some of my active skills.

When i arrived at the city i investigated where the black market was and it was much easier now that i had karmic sight since it's more likely for a person with negative karma to be affiliated with the black market.

Once there i went to an information broker and bought some information.

First information was if there was anyone powerful in the city and there was only two such people one was a wizard and the second was the captain of the guards who guarded the king personally.

Then i bought info on the mage and what abilities he had.

His main strength was his summoning since apparently he could summon up to 3 lesser fire elementals, his second strength was his fire magic.

The captain had enough experience to use blade energy and had an enchanted meteorite gear.

Next i got a map of the interior of the castle to see where the treasury and their library was.

After that i went my way and trained until it was night and changed my body to some random 30 year old guy and i put on some random clothes.

Making my was towards the castle i hide in the trees and observe the guards.

There is 2 guards at the entrance guarding it and a few guards walking around the castle patroling it.

Looking at the castle i see that there is an open window on the 3rd floor with lights.

After thinking about a plan i decide to To go to an inn and rent a room and go to bed while possessing some random guy next room over.

The guy seems to a bit above average most of his stats were 15 so he was probably an adventurer or something if the sword besides his bed was anything to go by.

Walking back to the castle i go straight to the window and when a guard spots me i snap their neck with telekinesis before i put the body into my inventory.

I climb the window with telekinetic claws.

I might not be able to use most of my powers or magic when possessing someone but i can use telekinesis since psychic energy seems to be more of a non-corporeal energy and mana seems more grounded in the physical realm.

When i am at the window i look inside and see an apprentice mage writing something into a book as he sips something i assume to be coffee.

"Just 1 more page and i am done" the guy says but before he can start writing more he looks at a me climbing into his window but before he can say something i possess him which was a bit harder but still easy to do since i upgraded my possession.

Snapping the guys neck with telekinesis i put the dead body into my inventory.

Searching the apprentice's memories i see that his teacher is the fire mage guy and that assassination would be close to impossible unless i am in my real body so i just make my way to the library since in about 2 minutes they should notice one guard missing.

Once there i kill the librarian and store him in my body.

'inventories are the best' i say in my mind with a smile on my face as i start storing all books in the library into my inventory.

Good thing is that they only took 4 inventory slots one for miscellaneous, skill, magic and recipe books.

After storing the entire library in my inventory i searched the apprentice's mind for the treasury but the juicy stuff was inside a treasure vault which i won't be able to break into in this body which i should have expected so i just put a hand behind my head and blew my brains out with a mana bolt with the guys entire mana pool (350) in the bolt splattering the apprentice's brains all over the empty library.

Opening my eyes i feel a weird headache? But it doesn't I don't feel the pain which is weird but i decide to ignore it since the sensation is fading away quickly and i go back to the castle.

I teleport straight into the vault since i now have memories of its location which was in my teleporting distance.

Looking inside i don't feel any magical runes inside the vault so i guess that no one ever had space magic or teleporting abilities in this world so they just put defense on the outside.

Looking around there are 3 items on displays and a small safe that probably has an item inside it and around me there is mostly jewelry and coins.

[Ritual book: lesser demon summoning: a book containing a ritual for demon summoning. Rare]

[Vampiric bracelet: this bracelet drains your life force at the rate of 10hp/s when worn however if you manage to wear it for 24 hours the bracelet will be absorbed by the wearer and turning them into a vampire. This item seems to have been created by a vampire who wanted to implant his mind into this item, however due to some unknown reasons his mind mostly died and now this item has an intelligence of a toddler. Be aware that even this broken mind will try to take over your own mind. Super rare]

Telekinetically i pull all the items to me and into my inventory including the small safe.

Next i teleport to the wizard's room since he keeps all of his theories, spells and more there.

Once there i see a typical old bearded guy reading a book and i instantly unleash an electric bolt from my ring.

A barrier instantly appears around the old mage which seems to be absorbing the energy of the bolt but the barrier soon shatters due to an overload of energy and i notice that 2 of the rings on the old wizards fingers shatter.

The wizard has widened his eyes since he finally had time to react to me even being there and he was about to cast a spell but before he could do that i snapped both of his arms and legs with telekinesis and destroy his jaw so he cant yell for help.

But he passes out from the extreme pain so i decide to possess him.

It was quite easy since you can't really fight possession much when you are knocked out so i search his mind to see if he has a secret library or anything like that and he doesn't which is disappointing.

Disconnecting from the mages mind i snap his neck and put him inside my inventory along with anything that has a price.

As i look at his bookshelf i smile since there is a lot more books on magic then the ones in the library.

Teleporting outside of the castle i go to a new tavern with my face changed into a random guy.

Once in bed i go into project zomboid since it's the safest world for experimentation.

Duplicating the necklace and potential potion i combine the duplicates with each other and observe them both.

No difference with the potion besides it unlocking 0.002% of potential but the bracelet was a bit different it said that the effect of the hp/s has doubled and the time it takes to turn you into a vampire has been lowered to 12hr.

After a bit of thinking i put on the bracelet inside a basement.

The bracelet clings to my arm and i feel some of my energy leaving my body but i regenerate too fast for it to matter much.

Next i pull out the small safe and break into it to see what is inside and to my surprise it is something i wanted.

Sadly after reading it there was nothing about souls but it was still a good find.
