Chapter 31 - A Miracle Healer

Inside the room, one could see grandma Crane tending to a little girl that is sweating profusely and hardly breathing. Grandma Crane's hand is glowing greenish white as air could be felt to be flowing from it.

"Grandma Crane... is Maya alright?" Gale asked.

"No, her fever is getting worse with no sign on getting better, I used all the herbs I know that could work but nothing did," Grandma Crane said in a somewhat monotone voice but with still a hint of care.

Gale on the other hand has a grim expression as she knelt by Maya's side, caressing her. When her hand touched Maya's forehead, it was burning hot as tears starts forming on Gale's eyes.

Alex's group just stood by the side, silently watching, when Elijah suddenly remembered something, "Hey Joana, remember that light you made that made us feel stronger?" He whispered to Joana.

Grandma Crane heard Elijah's whisper and turned around, "Which one of you is this Joana fellow?" She asked.

Joana subconsciously retreated which gave her away. Grandma Crane grabbed her by the and placed it on Maya's chest and instructed her, "Quick, focus your magic on your hands and think of healing the fever."

Joana is a little hesitant at first but when she saw Gale's tears, she just did as instructed, and only after a few minutes of waiting, when all hope seemed lost, Joana's hands started to glow a bright light.

The light was bright enough that it could be seen from the outside of the hut, and the villagers started to gather outside the hut, and even the Datu himself went to see what's happening after being reported of the commotion.

A minute has passed and Maya's condition is visibly better as she is breathing deeper than before, and the sweat on her forehead has started to dry. By this time, almost everyone from the tribe is outside the hut and the Datu pushed himself to the front to see what's happening.

-Somewhere in the forest-

"Hey leader, look," A man said while pointing in what seemed like a second sun.

The leader looked at where the man is pointing and said, "A miracle healer is born, and it's on the Tribe of Swirling Winds."

"Should we report this to the Datu?" another man said, this one is taller than the man leader himself.

"After this hunt, we'll go report this to her, now let's go, we can't waste anymore time," The leader said as the light died down, they went back to hunting.

-Tribe of Swirling Winds; Healer's Hut-

The light died down and Joana once again fainted from exhaustion and is caught by grandma Crane, she placed Joana on another bed and checked if Maya's condition is better.

And sure enough, when grandma Crane checked Maya, she determined that she is now only asleep and would wake up in a day's worth of time and the people outside started applauding Joana's performance.

The people were whispering on how Crane is a miracle healer and she just cured Maya's disease that she is trying to cure for the past week.

"Grandma Crane, you're a miracle healer?" The Datu asked.

"Obviously not, you've seen me treat diseases before but you've never seen me do a miracle," grandma Crane said as she swing her cane on the Datu's head. Datu didn't try to dodge. The children just giggled and laughed that Datu just got hit with grandma Crane's cane.

"It was her," Grandma Crane said as she pointed her cane towards the unconscious Joana.
