"Yes, there is such magic, but it comes with a great cost." Algaia explained.
Leslie was silent for a few minutes and seeing that she's in deep thought Algaia explained the consequences.
"well for starters, psychic magic deals with someone's mentality and how they would act after the spell is completed," She explained casually, "And of course, it could be use for boosting morale which include the confidence, enthusiasm, and discipline of a person or group at a particular time."
Leslie just nodded and Algaia continued.
"Anything that can be use for good, can also be use for evil, psychic magic is one of the most powerful magic out there, because the only way to counter it is with another psychic spell or a purify spell that only those who has a grasp on light magic can use." Algaia explained in a serious voice.
"Psychic magic is known for torture and making someone go insane, brainwash people, make people switch sides with a snap of a finger," Algaia then snapped her finger and Leslie felt an extremely painful headache that only lasted for a second.
Leslie was taken aback from the shock she just received and took a few moments for her to recover.
"So, do you want to continue with this?" Algaia asked after Leslie recovered.
"I- I- Yes, I would." Leslie said after stuttering.
"Then let's get on with it." Algaia said as she conjured a magenta magic circle with a few hand signs.
-Present time-
"Meeh!!!"
As Leslie remembered her conversation with Algaia, Alex's mother, the goat's call brought her back to the present.
"Oh right, sorry, I was just remembering something," Leslie said, "Anyway what are you going to do now?"
Leslie then touched the goat head again to hear what it was thinking.
"Can I go with you?" The goat thought.
"Sure, I guess, just don't create trouble" Leslie agreed and proceed to free the goat from the vines.
"Meeh!" (Thank you)
"Don't mention it," Leslie said as they began walking once again.
- A few hours later -
It's finally time for the assessment of their first test. And the apprentice were gathered by their mentors.
"Hey guys! How well did you do?" Elijah was the first one to greet them.
"I did amazing as always" Charlotte said as she dangled 10 fire breathing rabbits.
"Not bad, but I did better!" Elijah said with a brimming smile on his face as he showed his catch consisting of 10 rabbits and an earth deer.
Charlotte was shocked that Elijah manage to catch and kill one of those creature, even Charlotte was swatted away by one of those boulder attacks and she struggled to get back up because those things weigh like 50 kilograms.
Seeing Charlotte speechless, Elijah then asked Alex what else he caught , Alex then pointed behind him.
Behind Alex is a dead wolf, 5 rabbits and also a deer.
Charlotte's jaws dropped to the ground at the sight of the wolf carcass.
"Nice one bud!" Elijah gave a thumbs up then looked at Leslie who has 6 rabbits and a live goat, "Uhh... Leslie you're suppose to hunt them..." Elijah commented.
"Well uhh..." Leslie then proceeded to tell them what happened and why she let the goat live.
"Wait so you could talk to animals!?" Elijah exclaimed not even bothering to ask how the goat could use something like a genjutsu from Daruto.
"Well pretty much, but I need to touch them first, I think it's more like mind reading," Leslie explained.
The group then continue to talk for a few more minutes until the mentors had gathered the rest of the apprentices.
The normal apprentices have at least 7 fire breathing rabbits with the magic users having an average of 10 rabbits.
"Great job everyone for passing the hunting test," The mentors said "And as for the reward, the winner will get custom weapon of their choosing made by our very own Smith."
The apprentices all cheered but was quickly shush by the mentors.
The mentors then took a look at each of the catch and after assessing each of them, the mentors declared an apprentice named Sparrow.
Sparrow is a normal apprentice that caught 8 rabbits and 2 deers. The other apprentices including Elijah complained under their breath.
Sparrow was then guided by one of the mentors to go to the Smith so his weapon can be created as soon as possible.
And while Sparrow was being guided by one of the mentors, another one approached Alex.
"Kid I need you to come with me for a few minutes," The mentors said.
Alex nodded, thinking nothing of it and followed the mentor and he seems to be guiding him to the Datu's hut.
Charlotte and Leslie went back to their huts as well as the other apprentices, Elijah on the other hand followed Sparrow and the mentor to go see this Smith they are talking about.
