Chapter 48 - How Childish

Alex, Elijah, Kristin and Leslie rushed towards Charlotte, she was fine from the crash except for some bruises, her arms and legs turned back to normal as she got up to look at Hawk, who seemed to be alright except for his swelling cheek who absorbed Charlotte's punch.

"She beat him to a draw!" "I think I just witness history right here!" The villagers whispered.

Hawk also got up at this point, his eyes seething with hatred, 'Damn it! She got the best of me!" Hawk cursed in his mind.

Just then, Finch appeared, "What the hell happened here, and why is the bridge severed?" He bellowed. But as he looked around, he started to piece things together.

"Sigh, bring them both to the healer," Finch ordered as he turned around and walked away. 3 villagers assist both Charlotte and Hawk. Finch then turn his head around and said, "You four, go meet Gale, you're on your way to meet her right?"

Four of them just looked at each other and went without complains, except for Kristin who has a lot to say but Elijah and Alex covered her mouth and dragged her away.

The village is filled with elaborate bridges that connects to every huts, and because of what just happened, Finch ordered they are to be led to different paths.

But since the tribe bridges are overlapping on different levels, it can't be helped that they would see each other, and when that happens, they both casting evil side eyes at each other.

20 minutes of walking later, they finally reached the Healer's Hut, and when they entered, they saw Joana talking with Calen about some herbs and how its used to treat some sort of cold, and grandma Crane watching them on the far side of the room.

"Alright, you can continue the lesson later, we have someone to treat," Crane said in her cranky voice. "Fist fight, how childish." She remarked glancing at their bruises.

Charlotte was a little surprised on how grandma Crane assessed both of them with just a glance, Hawk meanwhile just rolled his eyes on her remark.

"Alright lass, what do you use to treat bruises?" Crane asked Joana who quickly got up.

"Uhh... Yarrow leaves?" Joana answered.

"Right," Crane nodded, "And what do you do with the yarrow leaves?" She continued.

"We uhh... ground them up with the mortar and pestle then apply directly to the bruise," Joana answered.

"Right, now go ahead," grandma Crane beckoned as she told Calen to bring Hawk to a room and she brought Charlotte to a different room, and she checked on her bruises.

"Nothing serious, just minor bruises here and there," Crane said to Charlotte, "Mind telling me what happened?"

"Well its..." Charlotte then explained what happened.

Outside, the guards left after Crane and Calen brought Charlotte and Hawk at the back while Joana is trying to find the yarrow leaves, and once she did, she started grounding them up.

Joana has been so bored in this hut in the past week, and she could barely stand the strong smell of herbs, but she knew better than to complain.

Last time she complained why she has to memorize the herbs even though she doesn't want to be a doctor, oh sorry, I meant 'healer', she got smacked on her head for complaining.

"With you being wasteful on using your magic, you need learn how to heal traditionally!" Crane scolded her.

And every time she complained, its always the same argument. One time she asked why she's here memorizing herbs while her friends are out there learning how to fight with magic.

"With you being a Miracle Healer, its useless for you to learn advance combat techniques," Crane explained, "Though we would still teach you basic combat, enough to defend yourself if an enemy doesn't honor the Code of Healers and Code of Warriors,"

Joana looked confused so grandma Crane explained further, "The Code of Healers says we are to always treat the wounded, ally or foe, Miracle Healers are to be taken care of by the tribe's Healer and to teach them the ways of healing, and we must act as the tribe's connection to the Tribe of Stars."

"There are some other rules like we are to never have kids of our own or have any romantic relationship with any of the tribe members or we can only join the elders when our apprentice is ready to take our place but you shouldn't concern with them as you are an outsider," Crane finished.

Joana found it interesting that Healers are mandated to take what they call 'A Miracle Healer' and teach her the 'ways of healing'.

"What are you staring at?" Crane yelled at her propelling Joana back to the present, "What's taking so long grinding a few yarrow leaves?"

Joana then quickened the pace of her grinding the leaves, still complaining internally why she has to do all of this
