Chapter 17 - Breached

Marie woke up feeling a heavy arm wrapped around her. Sargon's body was pressed behind hers while he continued to sleep.

Her heartbeat increased as she felt the warmth radiating from his body.

She didn't want to sleep alone last night. So, they lay in Sargon's bed until she fell asleep. It was the first time she spent the night with a man before.

The feeling of guilt troubled her a bit after his revelation of his inability to control the urge to mark her, but she felt the need to be in his arms. She was willing to take the risk.

She shifted to sit up, but Sargon pulled her in closer.

"Where do you think you're going?" He groggily asked her.

"Well, good morning to you too, Alpha." She teased.

"Hmm…How am I supposed to let you go?" He muttered.

Marie rolled over to face Sargon. She caressed his face gently as he sleepily looked into her eyes. She wondered if she would be lucky enough to be fated to this man, to this wolf.

Sargon pulled Marie into him and buried his face into her neck, breathing her in and holding her close for a few moments before he sat up.

"If I stay in bed any longer with you, I will not be responsible for what happens." He warned.

Marie gave him a playful look.

"Is that a bad thing?" She asked.

He smirked and ignored her question.

"Rest a while longer. I will take you to your room in a moment so you can freshen up." He said as he kissed her forehead, got out of bed and walked to the washroom.

Marie lay in Sargon's bed wondering why she wanted to devour this man. She couldn't stand the thought of being away from him.

What if it's true? What if she is his mate? What happens then? She wondered as she hugged one of his pillows finding his scent on it.

"Oh, my goodness. Get it together, Marie." She whispered.

Interrupting her thoughts moments later, Sargon walked out of the washroom in only a towel wrapped around his lower body, while he used another towel to dry his hair and upper body.

His glistening body was beautiful and perfectly toned with tattoos decorating his left chest and shoulder, down his arm.

Marie was speechless at the sight of this gorgeous man. Was he trying to torment her? She wondered.

"Your turn." He said, reaching for her hand and pulling her to sit up.

She reluctantly pulled herself out of the comfort of his bed and smoothed down her disheveled hair.

Sargon pulled her close as she wrapped her hands around his back and gazed into his eyes.

"You look like an angel when you sleep." He said as she blushed.

"That was the best sleep I have had in forever." She replied.

Sargon smiled and released his hold on her.

He went into his closet area and returned in a cream colored, long-sleeved, sweater and dark jeans.

"Come. Let's get you to your room." He said, walking her out of his room and down the hall to hers.

"I will meet you in the garden in two hours. I have a meeting this morning." He said.

Marie nodded as Sargon lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it. He turned the knob to her room as she walked in.

The beautiful rose gold and cream room seemed so empty after sleeping in Sargon's arms.

The thought of leaving Sargon while they had just begun to grow close saddened her, but she knew she needed to focus on the task at hand.

Marie realzed that the sooner she found the witch who cast the spell, the sooner she could return. She just needed to be strategic.

She still hadn't figured out exactly how she would get the witch to undo her spell. How far would she have to go to stop her?

Evil witches were not exactly the most cooperative, so Marie anticipated the worst.

Marie took her time to freshen up, she got dressed in a simple black pants and top and pulled her hair into a ponytail.

She packed her belongings carefully and left her beautiful room.

Heading down the hall, she bumped into Hannah.

"I will take that my lady. "Hannah said, reaching for Marie's bag.

"Oh, you don't have to carry that for me, Hannah." Marie said.

"You are very sweet Marie. No wonder the Alpha likes you so much." Hannah said.

Marie could feel her face turning red.

"Come, I will take that for you. You will need to get used to this if you will be around the Alpha." Hannah insisted.

Marie did not fight her on that. She wasn't used to having anyone do anything for her. She complied and followed Hannah to the garden.

When Marie arrived at the garden, Sargon stood quietly overlooking the lake, picking petals off of a flower.

"Aren't we a little old for she loves me, she loves me not?" She teased.

"Perhaps." Sargon replied as he walked over to greet Marie. She could tell he was fighting an inner battle.

"You do know that letting you go is the hardest thing for me right now, right?" He questioned her.

"It is difficult for me as well. You bring a comfort I have never felt before." She replied.

"You do the same for me." Sargon said as he took her hand in his. "Follow me." He instructed, as he led her through a pathway in the garden.

Sargon took her to a garage filled with beautiful cars, all belonging to him. He walked her over to a separate area of the garage.

In the secluded area, was an all-black car with no royal labels on it.

Sargon opened the door, revealing an all-black leather interior. The car looked like an older model, but it was beautiful.

"Will this work?" He asked Marie.

"This will do." She smiled, as Sargon handed her the keys to his very first vehicle.

"Start it up." He said while he jumped in the passenger seat.

Marie started the engine that sounded perfect and powerful and drove the car out of the garage and towards the front of the castle.

She pulled up to see Harold and Catelyn standing at the top of the stairs. They began walking down the stairs as soon as they realized who was driving.

Sargon and Marie both got out of the car at the same time.

"Well, well, well Sargon. You don't let anyone drive that car." Harold teased.

"I have good reason to, now." Sargon said while he closed the passenger door and went to stand next to Marie.

"We cannot thank you enough for this, Marie." Catelyn said as tears began to form.

Marie took Catelyn's hand in hers.

"Take care of yourself and the baby." Marie said as she gave Catelyn a hug.

Catelyn held her tightly knowing how dangerous the task she set out to do would be.

"Hurry back before Sargon loses his mind." Harold teased as he placed his hand on her back.

Marie looked at Harold and gave him a smile.

"Remember what I told you. Pay attention to the full moon." She warned as Harold nodded.

She then glanced at Sargon, who was extremely quiet.

"I will keep in contact with Sargon and give him any updates on my progress. You both must let me know if there are any sudden changes." She instructed.

"We will." Harold said.

"See you as soon as I can." Marie said, as Catelyn and Harold finished their goodbye's and walked back up the stairs to leave Marie and Sargon alone.

Marie turned to Sargon and snaked her arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms loosely around her lower back.

"You better keep in contact with me Sir." She commanded.

"I have no choice. You are driving my baby." He said, pulling her closer.

"I will take excellent care of your baby." She promised.

"Just bring yourself back so I can find out if you are mine, but I think I already know the answer to that." He said, giving her one last kiss before she got back into the car, and he closed her door.

Marie gave Sargon one last look and then drove off.

Sargon stood there until Marie was out of sight.

He cantered up the castle stairs, into the entrance and met up with Harold and Catelyn who were conversing.

"She is lovely Sargon. I truly hope she is the one for you." Catelyn said.

"So do I." Sargon replied.

Suddenly, one of Sargon's guards ran up to him, nearly out of breath.

"Alpha Sargon, a rogue entered the castle and attacked Victor!" He exclaimed.

"What? How? That is impossible. How did a rogue get into the castle undetected? Is Victor alright?" He said.

"Victor is dead!" He said, between breaths.

"No! This cannot be! Where is the rogue?" Sargon demanded.

"He was captured and is in a holding cell." The guard informed him.

"Take me to him now!" Sargon Growled.
