Chapter 10 - Chapter 09

A few days have passed since the 'Beedrill Incident' and Forest has been looking for a Weedle to catch.

He didn't just want to catch any old Weedle, he wanted a good one.

Although he wasn't completely sure what the colors of the potential meant, he could put a couple of things together.

Red was the worst, that was the most common one, and it seemed to go in order of the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and he assumed the next one would be purple. Although he had never seen a Pokemon with purple potential.

Almost all of the bug Pokemon in the area had red-yellow potential.

At the very least, Forest wanted a Weedle with a green potential, but he hadn't seen many pokemon with that potential. He had seen 2 actually. The wild Victreebel that came and picked up her kid, and Walt's Persian that had a dark green potential.

Seeing as those 2 were so strong must mean green is good, so that's why Forest decided any pokemon he catches must have green potential or better.

After days of searching, he couldn't find a single Weedle above light yellow potential and began feeling discouraged.

'Maybe I should go deeper into the forest, stronger pokemon seem to be there...'

He decided that tomorrow, he and Igna would go deep into the Viridian Forest in search of a good Weedle.

Forest turned to Igna

"We're gonna find us a new partner real soon!!"

"Char!"

The next day

--

Forest and Igna walked to Viridian Forest early in the morning.

Igna went over to all his Pokemon friends and greeted them.

After that, both Forest and Igna walked into the depths once more.

Forest made sure to avoid the path he took yesterday. Although if he went over to the Beedrill area he might be able to catch a Weedle or Kakuna, he didn't want to gamble his and Igna's safety too much.

He wouldn't say he wouldn't gamble their safety at all, they were in this forest after all. But he wouldn't do something that would put them in obvious danger.

They wander the forest for a while more before they see a wild Rattata that looked as if it was in a panic.

It looks at them warily and almost immediately gets ready to battle.

Igna gets ready to battle and Forest inspects the Ratatta before he realizes that it was the same one they met before.

It still even had a small mark on its cheek from Igna's punch.

"Igna stand down." Forest said

He then went in his bag and brought out a berry.

"Here," Forest said as he put it on the ground for the Ratatta "This is an apology for the other day"

"Ratatta??" The Ratatta was very confused. He had never seen something like this before. Weren't they just fighting mercilessly a few days ago?

Though it was confused it wouldn't give this chance up.

It sprinted and grabbed the fruit, looked at Forest meaningfully, and ran away.

"What an interesting little guy," Forest said with a small smile

"Char..." Igna was sad he couldn't battle the Ratatta, he didn't really get to fight him before either

"Don't worry Igna, you'll be able to find another opponent soon enough.

After Forest said that they continued to walk and not so long after they saw the Ratatta, he appeared once again.

"Haha, do you want another berry little guy?" Forest said laughing

"Ratatta! Rat!! Rattata!" He said while making gestures. It looked to be more panicked than before.

'Does he want me to follow him? Why does he look so stressed?'

"Let's follow him Igna."

"Char." He responded

They follow the panicked Ratatta into a small cave.

Forest looked around and saw a bunch of pokemon.

He saw Digletts, Ratattas, Zubats, he even saw a few Mankeys.

Although Forest had of course heard of these Pokemon, he had never seen some of them before in person.

The Ratatta kept ushering for him to follow when he came upon an injured-looking dog pokemon.

"I thought they lived in Johto, how did he get here?"
