"Of course, you're not the only one responsible, but you are the primary culprit!"
Judging by the expression on his face, this wasn't the answer he wanted to hear. He glared at me over the glasses perched on the tip of his nose, silently daring me to continue.
"You provide information, and in return, you take energy and time, right? The way you phrase it makes it sound so innocent, so well-intentioned, but when it comes down to reality, it doesn't look like that at all!
First of all, you don't produce information!"
He shot up like a mule with a burr under its saddle. All traces of that victimized demeanor vanished instantly.
"The information is provided by the very people you're bartering with. You just facilitate the transfer of data between individuals—or rather, should we say you sabotage the transfer of information!"
His gaze sharpened. I had caught him dead to rights; was I going to let him go?
