Chapter 112 - Chapter 104: Quirk Apprehension Test

Chapter 104: Quirk Apprehension TestAuthor: Geraint

A few days later, Ichika was called by his father to come to U.A. for his Quirk Apprehension Test. Since most of his abilities had to remain secret from the public, the test would be conducted in private, with only school staff and a few Pro Heroes observing.

Ichika had also made it clear: he would forbid himself from using his Quirk in school activities for any advantage. In short, he stated that he would expel himself if he ever used his Quirk at school.

All Might walked beside him in his muscular form, dressed in his Golden Age hero costume.

"Ichika, are you serious about not using your Quirk at school?" All Might asked. "You're supposed to be here to learn how to strengthen your Quirk and become a better hero."

"Yeah, I know that's what this is supposed to be for, but... Ugh. I'll show you later," Ichika replied, struggling to explain.

They arrived at a massive training facility resembling an empty city.

"Welcome to U.A. High, Captain Falcon," Principal Nezu greeted warmly. Behind him stood the entire staff: Midnight, Eraserhead, Present Mic, Vlad King, Cementoss, and other Pro Hero teachers.

Ichika was surprised to spot Lady Nagant among them. He'd heard about her from Ryukyu but hadn't expected she'd become a teacher at U.A.

"Kaina-chan! Oh wait—you're Tsutsumi-sensei now," he teased, waving at her.

Lady Nagant blushed and quickly hid behind her colleagues.

"This lady-killer kid..." Midnight muttered, stunned.

Nezu stepped forward and explained, "Today, we'll be testing your abilities. There's no need to hold back—use everything you've got during each fitness trial."

"...Yes," Ichika replied, sounding a little bored.

At Nezu's signal, Ichika headed toward an open field. Eraserhead noticed the heavy density weights strapped to Ichika's arms and legs.

"Falcon wears those weights all the time, doesn't he? Shouldn't he take them off for the test?" Present Mic asked.

"He won't—and he doesn't need to," Lady Nagant answered. "He's been conditioning his body with them. He only takes them off to sleep or bathe."

Everyone gave her a strange look.

"How do you know that?" Midnight asked with a smirk. "Do you visit him often?"

Lady Nagant turned red.

"W-Wait! I don't have that kind of relationship with him! Someone just... feeds me that information! Like, daily updates!"

Midnight raised an eyebrow. "I only asked if you visited him. You're the one who brought up the relationship part."

"Nooo! I messed up again! This is Belfast's fault! Why does she keep setting me up like this?!"

"Falcon, I told you not to hold back," Nezu reminded Ichika, pulling out a stopwatch. "Take off those weights so we can properly measure your performance."

"Fine."

Ichika began removing his weights. The moment one hit the ground—

THUD!

A crack spread out as the weight shattered the concrete floor, shocking everyone.

Once unburdened, Ichika stretched out his limbs.

"Let's start with the 50-meter dash. Just follow the painted line."

"Got it."

Ichika crouched into a sprinter's stance.

"Ready... Get set... GO!"

WHOOSH!

He vanished in a flash, kicking up a massive dust cloud. In less than a second, he crossed the finish line.

"0.46 seconds," Nezu read aloud.

"Tch. I've gotten slower," Ichika muttered, annoyed.

"Slower? Under a second is slow?" Midnight scoffed.

"It's not that," All Might explained. "Just look at our legs."

Ichika blinked, realizing the issue.

"Ah, right... My legs are shorter now compared to when I'm in my Captain Falcon form."

Next up was grip strength—but Ichika broke the machine. Multiple devices later, they still couldn't get a proper reading.

Standing long jump? He leapt so high that he smacked his head against the facility's ceiling.

Repeated sidesteps? He left behind several afterimages.

Ball throw? The ball got stuck in the roof.

"Let's just say it's immeasurable," Nezu muttered as he jotted down notes.

Ichika completed the rest of the test with results bordering on the inhuman.

"That concludes everything," Nezu said. "I'll send your uniform to your father. As for your Hero Costume—since you made it yourself, it has to be reviewed before you can use it on campus."

"Yes. Thank you very much," Ichika bowed respectfully.

A few days later...

Ichika and the girls stood in front of their new home in Musutafu. The massive building was half the size of Might Tower in Tokyo. At its peak stood a golden statue of All Might pointing in the direction of U.A. High.

All the girls were speechless.

"Ichika-kun... when did you build this?" Toru asked in shock.

"It was already planned before we even started our second year of middle school," he said proudly.

"Wait—you built this before any of us even decided to apply to U.A.? That's insane!" Momo exclaimed.

"Relax. It's just an apartment building, not a tourist attraction. No secret back door this time," Ichika added.

"Let's go check inside! First one in gets to choose her room!" La Brava shouted, dashing in.

"Hey, no fair!" the others yelled, chasing after her.

Ichika chuckled as they acted like kids.

Inside, they stopped when they spotted Nejire waiting at the entrance.

"Hey everyone! Welcome to the Might Inn!" she greeted cheerfully.

"Nejire-chan?! You're staying here?" Toru and Momo asked in unison.

"Yup! Ichika asked me to move in and help keep the place running. It was kinda lonely here before—but now that you're all attending U.A., it's gonna be fun!"

She gave them all a big hug.

"Oh right—what classes are you guys in?" she asked.

Toru: "I'm in Class 1-A."Momo: "Me too."Himiko: "I'm just happy to be in the same class as Ichika."Roboco:I'll go wherever Father is.

Nejire tilted her head, confused.

"Wait... what class are you in, Ichika?"

"There's a new class in the Hero Department created just for me—Class 1-S."

"Huh? What makes it different from the other classes?"

"Well... me," Ichika pointed to himself. "I'm already a Pro Hero, remember? I just can't renew my license without graduating from a hero school."

"Of course! Taking shortcuts wouldn't be fair!" Nejire huffed. "You should experience the full process of becoming a Pro Hero!"

Ichika smirked and poked her cheek.

"Hehehe... Well, well."

"Moo~ Ichika-kun!"

(To be continued.)

(A/N: Class 1-S has special privileges and can rotate into Class 1-A or 1-B. Introductions will come in later chapters. I'll fix any mistakes later!)
