Chapter 569 - New Projects 2

She may have looked tough on the surface, but that did not mean that she was always doing so well.

Having such times with Alyssia was a nice escape from her usual life, which was not always so easy for her, and it was just as good for her since Alyssia brought her some things to make her life easier.

Yamato continued. "Oh yeah… You told me to keep an eye on things in Wano. Are you still looking for people?"

Alyssia's red eyes narrowed slightly. "I am. The White Storm is always looking for talented people or just loyal enough people that can contribute in their own way."

Yamato flicked her white hair away from her face before chugging on a gourd. "Huah! I managed to get a couple for you, but they may not all be exactly what you are looking for."

Alyssia listened before asking in an interested tone. "Do tell."

Yamato continued to explain in a slightly hushed tone. "Well, you see… a lot of them are those who fly more under the noses of most in Wano. They tend to act in secret and were unhappy with things, so I stopped them."

Alyssia sighed in response. "So I guess they are an impatient bunch who are fed up with things… what about them?"

Yamato nodded in response. "You could say so. Nobody would notice if they went missing suddenly, so I took the risk of taking them away. They were planning to rebel or protest in their own way, which would only end badly for them."

Alyssia nodded thoughtfully. "I understand. If you can keep them from causing problems and drawing attention to them, then I will arrange a way off Wano for them so long as they agree to it.

If they have no intention of leaving, then I would advise that you not reveal the details of me or anything else so that they know nothing about where everyone will be going."

There were many who were unhappy with how things were, and there had been many times when people had reached their breaking point.

Either they endured until their deaths, they committed suicide, or they finally said enough was enough as they went to confront those behind it all, even at the risk of their lives.

If they had the intention of rebelling or protesting, then they would be killed or put into the mines to work as slaves until they broke down and died.

Not everyone would be able to hold on until the time that the Straw Hat pirates would arrive, so there would be those who were teetering on the brink of death or making a desperate decision.

That was why Alyssia had asked Yamato to keep an eye on some of the things that were happening around Wano.

If there were some who could be saved and given hope, then Yamato could do it so long as she could stop them in time before they did anything that could not be taken back.

If she could convince them well enough, then she would try her best to provide a temporary means of protection and a way of living, but she could not appear as herself, so she had to dress up and not give away her identity.

It was much easier to trust in some mysterious figure who was doing heroic deeds to help them than being from the same bloodline as Kaido, who was terrorising them.

If she dressed up, then it was easier to avoid being recognised by others as her identity was already attention-grabbing as it was.

Alyssia was a little curious, so she asked a little more. "So tell me about some of them."

Yamato seemed relaxed as she went on to explain. "I know you tend to like strong people most or those with unique skills, so there is a small number of them. One is a male ninja and the other is a female samurai.

The ninja had a plan to steal some supplies from one of the ruling lords after being pushed to survive on very little rations. The samurai had been living as a lone widow after losing her husband many years ago.

She took up her husband's sword and armor as she began honing her skills for many long years for the sake of revenge. Her fighting skills are quite high, but it would only be suicide for her to try anything, so I stopped her.

It would be good for her to be taken away so that she cannot be reminded of the past and be able to move on. If she has something to give her hope, then that would be great. As for the other… he needs a way to live without putting himself in danger."

Yamato remembered the times she encountered those people in the past, as she felt helpless about how she was unable to help anyone during their struggles.

Her life was difficult enough in many ways that it made it difficult to help others out.

What made it worse was that any attempts to help them would only cause attention to be put on them.

Eyes and ears were all around Wano that were paying attention to most things, and they would be reported back to anyone affiliated with Kaido.

Anyone with whom she was affiliated or would be trying to help could become a target, so her helping them would only make things worse for them.

The only option that she had would be to do everything in complete secrecy and not reveal her identity through it all.

Some among them had been leaving their homes, ready to end their lives one way or another, while others had hit rock bottom as they were approaching death in their homes or somewhere else.

Yamato had no other choice but to intervene before they could go through with it or when they were in a critical state.

The female samurai had already been putting on her husband's armour and sword as she slipped out of her home after training hard over many long years of enduring everything.

Her aim had been to target one of the lords of the regions that served under Kaido, but it was quite well protected by the beast pirates who had occupied that area.
