What Alyssia ended up coming up with was a formal way of addressing them based on their title or ranking.
Some could be addressed as a lord or lady if it were from a more knightly core character, and that could change based on those settings, based on what type of role they were built to fulfil.
Even the way that MMA addressed her made it seem more like it was an actual part of the crew, like it was a crew member who was addressing the ship captain.
Alyssia went on to ask. "What about the project related to improving food supplies?"
MMA spoke again after checking over everything. "Progress has been made. The tests have already shown excellent results. There have been some that have not been completely sustainable, but the data gathered will prove useful."
Alyssia's red eyes narrowed. "What failed?"
MMA replied very quickly. "It is the plant and crop project. The animal project has shown excellent results thus far."
Alyssia got up a moment later before heading to her lab, which had been greatly improved.
The facilities had been improved greatly, and the space that was available had been extended further.
Some previous projects had already been cleared out to make room for others, as they were left somewhere else temporarily, like in one of the hidden and fortified areas that Alyssia had built in Zou.
Some other things had been moved to Ness Kingdom, while some had been secured in the building on Egghead Island, where she and others had been living and working from.
After making modifications to the MMA, it had become much bigger than before, and several other changes had been made to improve a wide variety of functions.
Small pods were located nearby, but they were not as big as the ones she had used in the past.
Each of them had something floating inside of a strange liquid, but most resembled very young animals.
Alyssia checked over the data that had been collected before moving toward her notes as she began using the system to assist her.
She soon stopped what she was doing before pressing some buttons, causing a pod to open.
She removed the small animal that looked like a small duckling, which awoke and started kicking around and pecking.
It quickly became quiet and docile in her arms as it could feel the strong intimidating presence of Alyssia, so it allowed itself to be moved over to a see-through boxed area before being placed securely inside. "Nature test blizzard level 1 begin."
The inside of the see-through box began to change suddenly as if the conditions inside had been altered.
Various effects started to be produced inside that space, starting with the temperature dropping and there being a gust of wind coming from inside.
The duck inside flapped its wings a little as it felt a slight chill, but its body feathers helped it to endure it.
The level was raised higher as it got much colder and the winds became stronger.
Small clouds started to gather overhead, causing snow to come down and be swept up by the cold winds.
Small hailstones started to come down along with the snow, making it seem all the more dangerous inside as the conditions grew worse.
The duck started to become more distressed as it tried to stay above the piling up snow while trying to find a safer place. "Quack!"
Alyssia continued to observe everything while taking notes until the condition of the duck started to become quite severe.
It started to struggle in the environment as the effects of the cold started to take over its body.
Any injuries, frostbite or hypothermia that could result from such an environment were present as the duck was pushed into a very dangerous position.
Just as it was reaching a dangerous point in it all, Alyssia did not stop any of it and continued to increase her focus on it all. "It should be right…. about now."
A sudden change started to take place before her eyes as the duck suddenly started to shake a little out of control.
Its body began to undergo a change all of a sudden, with its wings, feet and beak becoming more white and almost like ice with a certain sharpness to them.
Its legs and talons had become a little more suited to maintaining balance and walking over the snow, while its body seemed to have become a little more durable and resistant to the extreme environment.
The hail and cold no longer seemed to phase it, almost as if it had evolved to suit the harsh environment it was in.
Life returned to the duck once more, but it seemed a little hungry after undergoing that transformation, so it began to peck at the snow all around it. "Quack!"
A smile appeared on the face of Alyssia as she observed the result. "Nice! The SIQ animal plan has shown another success. Now there is no longer a need to use SIQ on them as it is built into their Lineage Factor.
It lies dormant as it is until it is put into a situation where it needs to adapt. The fastest and easiest way to influence that would be to push it to the brink like this. Not bad!"
The purpose of the project was actually quite simple.
It was to create a type of source of food that could live or grow in any kind of environment.
The problem was that not every seed or animal would be able to survive in every environment, especially if the conditions were very severe.
That was when the idea came for introducing the concept of SIQ, as the nature of it allowed those injected with it to evolve to be able to survive.
If that became a latent talent that was built in, then they did not need to be created to suit a certain type of environment since they could evolve once they got there.
