Chapter 19 - Trap

Vera Warner has always hated being threatened by others, and anyway, what's so great about Victor Morgan? She's not interested in him at all.

She's only putting up with his plans for the sake of their daughter, and that's already a huge compromise. If he keeps trying to push her around, then sorry, she isn't someone who'll just lie down and take it.

"That's more like it. Sure, I'll feed you and your son three meals a day, but you have to follow my rules. If I'm in a bad mood one day and don't feel like cooking, then we'll just order takeout."

"Fine, your turf, your rules."

Victor Morgan had no idea where his saintlike patience came from to actually agree to such a rude demand from this woman.

Although, to be fair, he was rude first, but somehow she'd managed to turn the tables on him.

Vera nodded, quite satisfied, gave him a "bye-bye" gesture, and drove off in her car in triumph.

"That woman is really infuriating!"
