Working to ease Felicia's worries I also couldn't help but wonder what the first mission I would be conducting for SHIELD would be.

Protecting the royalty of a small but important nation, simply due to his natural resources or geographical position.

Going after the head of an international crime syndicate.

Fighting aliens.

The possibilities are endless.

The thought of which both excites and scares me at the same time.

"Okay seriously Peter, are you good?" Felicia asked me. "Because you've got this weird look on your face."

"Really, do I?" I asked.

"You do." Spinner decided to say. "But as Peter said Felicia he's fine. Just excited about his upcoming first mission."

"Sorry, what do you mean?" She asked.

As she did I led her back into the train car and sat her down on a chair. Before I took a seat myself.

"Well, it's like this Felicia." I began.

I then told her all about S.H.I.E.L.D.

Since I felt she deserves to know this in particular.

As I finished informing her about the top secret spy organization she got a slightly cramped expression on her face.

"Okay, that's crazy."

"Oh no, we haven't even gotten into crazy yet." I replied.

"Are you serious?" Felicia asked me.

I nodded in confirmation.

"Okay then. So if SHIELD existence isn't something you consider crazy then what is?"

"Magic is real." I said without hesitation.

Felicia getting ready to comment, only to stop when she got a good look at my face.

One that is sporting a serious expression at the moment.

The thing that likely made Felicia stop her retort.

No, I'm sure it is.

"I see. Okay, is there anything else I should know?"

"Plenty." I replied. "But we'll hold off on that for now. Partly because I don't want to be late for my rendezvous with SHIELD and partly because I don't want to overwhelm you too much in one day. Not unless absolutely necessary. Since stuff like this needs to be done in moderation whenever possible."

"You can say that again." Felicia replied.

Leading the two of us to share a chuckle.

Then once we did I went to suit up in my classic, and once I did left the Web and began heading for the meeting place Fury had informed me about during our phone call earlier.

Thus I eventually found myself outside a plain-looking warehouse.

Where immediately after my arrival the front doors opened and I found myself staring at agents Quartermain and Coulson.

"Gentleman." I said. Stepping inside.

Where once I did they immediately closed the doors.

But I didn't pay that much mind as I surveyed the interior of the warehouse.

Given it looked to be in pristine condition and set up just like how I imagined a super secret spy agency base to look.

"Nice digs you boys got here." I told the two of them. "But enough of that, let's get down to business."

"Of course Spider-Man, if you'll follow me." Coulson replied.

I then did just that and followed both him and Quartermain over to what looks like a briefing area.

Ignoring the looks the SHiELD agents around us gave me as we did.

Especially since I didn't recognize any of them.

Taking my seat in one of the chairs that was set up I suddenly found a metallic box in front of me, courtesy of Quartermain.

Opening it I looked through and quickly confirmed its contents before nodding.

After which I closed it.

"Everything I asked for is there. Looks like Fury kept his word."

"The director generally does." Quartermain.

"I'll take your words with a grain of salt agent Quartermain, given you and Fury are both spies. And he's the director of your entire spy organization." I explained. "But enough about that. What's the mission?"

"Right." Coulson replied. He then turned to the computer board in front us.

One which showed multiple satellites images of a ship, filled with numerous containers, just sitting idle in the middle of the ocean.

"What you see on the screen is the Chinese vessel known as the Shum or-"

"-Water Horse in English." I interrupted Coulson.

"Yes." Coulson replied. "And this vessel is currently being used to transport Plutonium to China. Courtesy of the Russians. Whom they made a deal with to acquire the nuclear material in the first place. Naturally SHIELD couldn't allow this happen so we sent in a strike force and insertion team to retrieve the plutonium and make sure the deal fell through. Only a couple of hours after the operation began the Shum went completely and utterly dark. It stopped in its tracks and since then there has been no communication from anyone board. Not even our own agents. There has also been no attempts by anyone to board or leave the vessel." Coulson explained.

"Well maybe everyone is dead. Something might've occured with the plutonium and things went to shit." I spoke.

Speaking the harsh but very possible truth.

"We considered that possibility, but find it highly unlikely. Considering we were getting live camera feeds and even bio-data readings from the agents we sent aboard the ship until the moment it went dark." Quartermain explained.

"Ah, so that's why you want me to go in. In case whatever happened to your agents isn't something a normal person can handle."

"Basically." Coulson spoke.

"Alright." I replied. "So, when do we leave?"

"We can do so right now." He said.

I then shook my head. "Sorry, can't. But give me one more hour and I'll be ready to head out."

"Time is of the essence here Spider-Man." Quartermain said. "Not only the Chinese but also the Russians are soon going to notice the Shum is missing. So I ask you finish your business quickly."

"No need to worry agent Quartermain." I told the man.

I then grabbed the box and left the SHIELD base.

Before heading to a location to more throughly examine the box and it's contents.

Then once I was satisfied nothing was amiss I returned to it with the Web.

Where after I gave both Spinner and Felicia a quick rundown of the situation.

I then went to make preparations for her mission.

Including a cover if my absence extended long enough for Aunt May and uncle Ben to notice.

But hopefully it doesn't.

Then once all the preparations were complete I returned to the same warehouse as earlier.

Once I did Quartermain, I, and a few more SHIELD agents loaded ourselves into a Quinjet and took off for the Shum.

Hands behind my head I hummed the opening to the Fantastic Four 1996 animated cartoon.

Ignoring all the looks from the SHIELD agents around me.

Untill eventually I felt the jet landing.

Once it did I got up and as the rear ramp lowered, stepped off of it first.

Taking the lead due to my Spider-Sense.

Quartermain and the other SHIELD agents following behind me, their weapons at the ready.

Making my way forward I steadily but carefully began surveying the area with the SHIELD agents.

That is until my Spider-sense started going off like crazy.

"Hit the deck!" I shouted.

Before flipping away from where I was standing.

Quartermain and his fellow agents following my lead and moving away from the area we were in.

Just as something burst through the deck of the ship and tore it open.

A few seconds after this happened one for SHIELD agents was suddenly wrapped up like a sardine by a metallic tentacle.

"Ah, more pests. No matter. I'll get rid of you all like I did the others. Anything for the glory of mother Russia." A male voice spoke.

One sporting a thick Russian accent.

The owner of the voice making himself known a few seconds after he spoke.

Jumping up through the hole he made the deck and then landing on it.

As he did I felt a pit form in my stomach.

Since the voice of the man belonging to none other than Arkady Rossivich.

Otherwise known as the tentacle play mutant Omega Red.

Yep, the old Peter Parker luck at its finest.
