Chapter 3 - At knife point

Feeling my head throb, I turned back and I was shaken to see my brother looking at me with fierce eyes and a pointy knife in his hands.

"How could you do this to me ?", he said...

I could see that my brother was shivering. But I was also panicking out of control.

I tried to act calm with a composed face and said "You don't wanna do this. Now put the knife down. Or else you might hurt someone."

As I kept my conversation going, I slowly approached my brother who now with a closer look ..... totally looked like he was an abandoned puppy in the rain but his eyes behind the mask said a different story. It was like he was under some possession. Then he was like "Don't come near me "and started swinging the knife blindly.

"Okay okay calm down I got it. No one's gonna hurt you. Everything's fine", as I kept speaking I moved two steps back to give him some assurance. Then suddenly he fainted. I ran up to him and started shouting to get my mom to come here. Then I pushed the knife under the study table since I didn't want my mom to know about what happened ...

I acted with reflex, getting some water(to splash on his face so as to wake him up), and then when I tried to remove his mask, I stood up... not wanting to remove his mask ..something felt wrong...an ominous feeling surged inside of me. It was like I was weighing the scale ...the scale of my safety for my brother's.

Then my mom entered the room but I was still in thought. After hearing her yell at me asking for me to hand over the water I shook myself and gave it to her. My mom took off his mask,

A horrifying face that felt like it dwelled in darkness. His face was gray and it was getting darker and darker, the more I looked. He looked completely dehydrated to the point I can say there was no soul. The eyes which looked at me with killing intent were no longer seen. I turned to my mom horrified about how her reaction would be.

My mom sighed with relief ...

"Nothing changed, he just looks as normal as always. Probably just suffocated because of that mask", my mom murmured.

"What do you mean ??? Normal ...that is far from how he looks. He looks like a nightmare " and when I looked at him once again he looked completely fine.

"But how could that be? Ju... just a minute ago he looked so horr...."I stopped talking when I saw my mother looking at me with eyes that looked unamused . I could just feel that she had not seen what I had and neither is she believing what I am saying.
