Chapter 1 - Serina Bennett

Serina Bennett had never been the kind of girl who believed in love at first sight.

She preferred ordinary things quiet mornings, good food, old books, and conversations with people she trusted.

The first thing people noticed about Serina Bennett was her height.

Or rather...

The complete lack of it.

At eighteen years old, Serina stood at exactly 147 centimeters.

She was, without question, the smallest person at Westbridge International College.

Some students joked that she could disappear behind the library shelves.

Others said she needed a step stool just to reach the vending machine.

Serina had heard every joke.

She had learned to smile at most of them.

After all, it wasn't her fault.

Height simply didn't run in her family.

Her mother was 152 centimeters.

Her father was 155.

Her grandmother had been 149.

In fact, the tallest person in the entire Bennett family had barely crossed 155 centimeters.

So Serina had accepted her fate.

She was short.

Very short.

But she had never considered herself weak.

Serina was an average student not brilliant, not terrible. She was somewhere comfortably in the middle.

Socially, she was somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert.

An ambivert.

She could talk for hours with someone she trusted.

But put her in front of a crowd of strangers?

Her brain immediately forgot how language worked.

Her life had been perfectly ordinary.

Until she received a scholarship to Westbridge.

A college where the children of billionaires, politicians, celebrities, and powerful businessmen studied alongside the country's brightest scholarship students.

For Serina, it was a completely different world.

She had now been there for six months.

And somewhere during those six months...

Something else had changed.

She had fallen in love.

Or, at least, she thought she had.

There was a boy.

A ridiculously tall boy.

A handsome boy.

A boy with striking blue eyes and a calm smile that could make Seina forget what she was saying halfway through a sentence.

His name was Ethan Carter.
