Once I finish with my side jobs, I go to my uncle's house. I walk into the living room and I see my uncle sitting on his couch. "I was told that you had something to talk to me about." I sit across from him.
He looks at me, "you just finished one of your jobs, huh? Even when you shower, somehow the smell of blood, doesn't leave completely."
"Yes, sir."
"I'm going out of state for some business meetings, I want you to take over my duties while I am gone." He stands up and pulls a folder out of his TV stand drawer. Then, he drops it onto the coffee table in front of me. "This is everything I need you to go over. This," he places a phone on top of the folder, "is what Angie will be getting a hold of you with." He sits back down. "She will be your helping hand with anything and everything related to our business."
I stare at what he is giving me. Great, he isn't asking either. I don't have a choice. "When are you leaving?"
"This weekend. I will be gone for two weeks. It isn't a long time so I expect you to do a great job." Angie walks into the living room and whispers something in his ear. "That's all I had to tell you. Angie has one more news to tell you. I have matters to tend to. See yourself out afterwards." He stands and walks out.
Strange, is he running away from me right now? "What's the news?" I look at Angie, his secretary.
She stares at me. "You have an appointment to go to tomorrow after your classes. I will be sending you the address two hours before the scheduled appointment. "
Appointment? He said he isn't leaving until this weekend, why do I have to go? I sigh, "okay, do I have to dress nice?" I stand and pick up the items he gave me.
"Yes, please."
I'm better off not asking any questions. She'll tell him I'm not cooperating and I'll be the one in trouble. "Alright, I'll be waiting for the address, bye." I walk out of my uncle's house and head home. I'm not looking forward to this.

She sighs as she reads her notes. "Is this everything I need to ask?" Gosh, I'm more nervous today than I was yesterday. "Alright, I think I'm ready to go." She grabs her purse and walks out of her room.
She gets off the bus and stands across the street from her old home. "Alright, I got this." She tells herself. She rings the doorbell once she's in front of Nathan's old house.
Six minutes pass by before the door is opened by an older woman. "Hello? How can I help you?" She smiles at Natalie.
"Hello, ma'am. My name is Natalie Falls, I don't know if you remember me. I was the best friend of your son, Nathan Grabriel Marquez. I used to live next door." Natalie smiles at her.
The woman's eyes widen, "Oh! The little sweetheart he used to chase?" Natalie blushes and the woman laughs. "Yes, darling! I remember now! Come in!" She moves aside and let's Natalie in. "How have you been? It's been so long, are you moving there again?" They walk into the dining room.
"I've been okay. How have you been? No, I'm not moving back in. "
"Take a seat, honey. What brings you here today?" They both sit on dining room chairs.
How do I tell her about my job gently? Will she get angry with me? No, I can't start having doubts, this is my job. If not me, someone else will eventually come and ask her these questions. "I work for a newspaper company. My job is to find out if certain rumors are true or not. I'm an investigator for the company."
"Oh, wow. That's a great job. I'm sure your parents are proud of you." She smiles at Natalie. "Would you like something to drink?"
"No, I'm alright, thank you. This is a little hard to say but, I am actually here to interview you, Miss."
"Me? Is there a rumor about me?" Her expression turns into worry.
"No, ma'am. Well, I just...I....my boss, received a letter from a woman claiming to be Nathan's biological mother."
Her eyes widen, "what...?"

"Tch, I let him trick me again." I look across the table from me. What does she want from me now? "What do you want now? I thought we agreed not to meet again." I glare at the woman sitting across from me. My biological mother. Last time we met, she said nothing but hurtful words to me.
"Robert told me that you own a house. How did you get the money for that?"
"How is that any of your concern? I work, simple."
"I want to make sure you aren't doing the same things that your... father was doing when he was alive. He owned many things."
I laugh, "what does it matter to you? The agreement was that you threw me away and wanted no contact, right? Why did you want to meet? Don't beat around the bush, just get straight to the point."
"I came to warn you. If you are doing those things, I already have someone investigating you. I won't let you do years of hurtful things to people. We don't need another monster on the loose."
"Wow, monster, huh? Well, for your information, I'm not the only one on the loose." I take a sip of my lemonade. "I thought you gave up on me since the day I was born. I was only four days old when you gave me away to mom. Besides, weren't you the one who allowed such a 'monster' to be born anyway? You could have had an abortion, or killed me when we checked out of the hospital? Why didn't you?"
She glares at me. "I am not a monster. I don't kill people."
"Oh, I apologize, I didn't realize I was talking to mother Teresa." I laugh again.
"Laugh all you want. I am only warning you. If you are doing those hideous things, I will make sure you pay for your crimes." She grabs her purse, getting ready to leave.
"What about Robert?" She stops and glares at me again. I take another sip of my lemonade.
"What about my brother? He isn't anything like you or your disgusting father."
I laugh out loud, I can't help it. She doesn't know, they were friends. I chuckle. "Women really are self centered."
She stands up. "I am done talking to you. Fucking monster." She glares at me with so much hatred and disgust before she walks away.
