Nancy Sutton was stunned for a moment, then answered truthfully.
"Yes."
The old lady secretly opened one eye, knowing her plan had succeeded, and a hint of a smile flashed in her eyes.
Feigning weakness.
"Nancy, why don't you help me over there? I want to rest now."
Nancy Sutton nodded and kindly helped the old lady to the guest room. After placing her on the bed, she quietly left.
Nancy Sutton looked at the man sitting on the sofa, lost in thought, and felt a slight sympathy—this tactic of the old lady was truly hard to handle.
For once, Nancy wanted to comfort Liam Quincy, but before she could speak, the man took over the conversation.
Liam Quincy coldly stared at Nancy Sutton, as if he saw through her intentions, and smirked disdainfully.
"Isn't this just what you wished for?"
Surprised by his words, Nancy Sutton exclaimed.
"Huh!?"
Nancy really couldn't understand what was in Liam Quincy's head; he was somewhat annoyed by Nancy's pretending not to know.
Thinking he had her figured out, he said.
"Don't you just want to climb up to the Quincy Group? Deliberately setting my grandma up."
Nancy Sutton was utterly speechless, her sympathy instantly extinguished, and she retorted without any courtesy.
"Are you a narcissist? What does the Quincy Group have that I can climb up to?"
It was the first time Liam Quincy was called a narcissist, his lips parted in shock and then closed, igniting his anger.
"How can you speak like that?"
Nancy pulled a cold smile: "You started this, Mr. Quincy."
Liam Quincy immediately stood up, approached Nancy Sutton; she was shadowed by his tall figure but showed no fear.
Neither retreating nor afraid.
A silent war flared up between the two, just then, Bianca Sutton came out of the kitchen and saw Liam Quincy, slightly surprised.
Her carefree nature didn't notice the tension between Nancy Sutton and Liam Quincy, she ran over to Liam's side.
With her small white hand, she tugged at the corner of Liam's shirt.
"Uncle, you misunderstood Mommy."
Liam Quincy was about to lose his temper, but upon seeing a familiar little face his anger vanished instantly.
His tone unconsciously softened, nothing like the tense atmosphere with Nancy just moments ago.
"Why are you here?"
Bianca Sutton blinked her big eyes, explaining softly.
"Because my mom is here."
Liam Quincy frowned slightly, his gaze switching between Nancy and Bianca, pondering for a while before speaking.
"You say Uncle misunderstood, what's really going on?"
With her mouth open, Bianca explained the whole situation with the old lady.
Only then did Liam Quincy understand the old lady had come on her own accord to bother them; he chose to believe Bianca Sutton's words.
Liam Quincy picked up Bianca, relaxing his brow for once, apologized for his misunderstanding.
"I was wrong, I'm sorry."
Bianca nodded with satisfaction, but Nancy Sutton frowned; why was Liam Quincy only apologizing to her daughter?
Not to her, the person involved?
Liam Quincy knew he had misunderstood Nancy, but for the sake of pride, he couldn't admit his error to her.
He was planning to chat with Bianca soon, but before he could speak, someone interrupted him.
Nancy Sutton snorted coldly, picked up Bianca, and turned to grab Mason, putting them back into their respective children's rooms.
She then walked alone into the living room, facing Liam Quincy who stood there.
Her voice was indifferent to the extreme, dismissively spoken.
"Mr. Quincy, do as you please, if you intend to leave, please remember to close the door."
With those words, Nancy shut the master bedroom door, leaving Liam Quincy alone in the living room.
Liam blinked, clearly not fully comprehending, until he recalled how Nancy had referred to him.
Mr Quincy, am I really that old?
Liam Quincy took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
He must not fall for that woman's trick; she sought attention, trying to make him angry and remember her.
Liam Quincy hummed to himself.
Suddenly, a phone ringtone rang; it was Liam's phone, the caller was his assistant, Mr Vance.
"Hello, what's up?"
Mr Vance, hearing Liam answer the call, secretly let out a long breath.
"Boss, shall we come up now?"
Liam Quincy replied, "No need, we can't take grandma today; come back tomorrow."
Mr Vance did not object, respectfully responded, "Okay."
Silence fell, Mr Vance broke it first.
"Boss, when will you come down?"
Liam didn't answer immediately, thinking for a moment before responding.
"In a bit, wait for me downstairs."
Mr Vance: "Okay."
After hanging up, Liam Quincy scanned the living room, and suddenly focused on a particular spot, walking over.
He picked up a photo frame that held a picture of Nancy Sutton and two kids.
Back then, the kids appeared to be under a year old.
Liam Quincy lightly brushed his thumb over their faces, curiosity rising—why did Nancy Sutton's kids look so much like his younger self?
They seemed cut from the same mold.
Highly suspicious.
Immediately, he took out his phone and called Mr Vance.
"Investigate Nancy Sutton's two kids, find out who their father is."
Mr Vance was slightly puzzled, unsure of the boss's intentions; he said nothing, knowing curiosity killed the cat; he didn't want trouble.
Mr Vance: "Alright."
As Liam was about to hang up, Mr Vance stopped him.
"Hey, boss, wait."
Liam Quincy: "?"
Mr Vance described what he'd seen from the car moments earlier.
"I just saw from the car, Miss Sutton's stepsister entered the community, seems to be heading towards building 9 where you are."
Liam Quincy furrowed his brow, his right eyelid twitched; sensing something bad was about to happen, he quickly donned his shoes and left the house.
"Ding," the elevator doors opened, out came a woman, meeting Liam Quincy face-to-face—it was Nancy Sutton's stepsister, Joy Sutton.
Why was she here?
Liam strode over, exuding an icy aura, lowering the surrounding temperature noticeably.
He questioned her.
"What are you doing here?"
Joy hadn't expected Liam to be at Nancy's place, inwardly cursed her luck because there was no way to cause trouble now.
"Haha, Mr. Quincy, I'm here to see my sister."
Liam Quincy let out a cold laugh, beginning to dismiss her.
"They're asleep, you can leave now."
