BIOGRAPHY (FULL CANON INTEGRATION)
Early Life & Wolf Fang (Pre-Expendables)
Much of Li Jie's early life is classified, but Cole's Shanghai arc confirms:
• Yin Yang was once an instructor in Wolf Fang / Langya Special Forces, one of China's most elite units.
• He trained Fan Tianlei (confirmed in Chapter 55) and He Weidong, the Falcon.
• He was a respected instructor but left military service under undisclosed circumstances.
• Yin Yang still carries deep loyalty toward the He family and profound disdain for Fan Tianlei's arrogance and recklessness.
This background was revealed only when Cole and Yin Yang returned to Shanghai (Chapters 54–57).
The Expendables
After leaving Wolf Fang, Yin Yang became a mercenary. Barney Ross recruited him early to The Expendables, where he became the team's:
• Fastest close-quarters fighter
• Mobility specialist
• Knife/shuriken master
He formed strong ties with Ross, Christmas, Caesar, Toll Road, and eventually even Gunner.
Relationship with Cole Shaw (Arthur)
The Cole–Yang dynamic is one of the strongest bonds in the Cole Shaw Protocol Continuity.
Key moments:
Chapter 08 — Clocked
• Cole and Yin Yang fought during a test bout.
• Cole passed Yang's evaluation by demonstrating lethal efficiency.
• Mutual respect formed instantly.
Chapter 09 — Terms and Tests
• Yin Yang invited Cole to join The Expendables.
• Cole declined — and reversed the offer, inviting Yin Yang to join The Round Table.
• Yin Yang did not accept but did not decline either
Chapter 54–57 — Off-Script in Shanghai → The Shanghai Accord
• Cole and Yin Yang travel to Shanghai alone, forming a deeper bond.
• Yin Yang reveals emotional conflict about He Chenguang serving in the army due to He Weidong's death.
• Their shared infiltration, observation of Fan Tianlei's botched test, and intervention cement Yin Yang's trust in Cole.
• Yin Yang openly calls Arthur "my boss" in front of Fan Tianlei.
• Yin Yang assists Arthur in neutralizing IMF mole John and setting conditions for The Shanghai Accord between The Round Table and Chinese special operations command.
In all their missions, Cole views Yin Yang as:
"A blade that never dulls, and the one man who can match my precision move for move."
Current Status
Yin Yang is:
• A senior operative in The Round Table
• Cole's closest combat advisor
• Liaison for all operations in East and Southeast Asia
• One of the four active field operatives deployed in the Barcelona arc (alongside Caesar, Christmas, Ross)
